Both are playing good tennis and are 100% fit. Should be a great match.

Murray in 4. He has struggled more than Stan to get here like last year but he has managed to come through a much tougher draw, I get the feeling he will repeat last years performance.

Murray in 5. I don't see this being easy for either of them. Wawrinka arguably in the better form but Andy will know he needs to bring his best and i'm sure he will!

wat...

Wawrinka - Dolgopolov, Fognini, Monfils, Cilic
Murray - Kuznetsov, Klizan, Del Potro, Khachanov, Nishikori

Just because Murray sucked in some of his matches (against Kuznetsov and Klizan to be exact) doesn't mean they are tougher opponents than Dolgopolov or Fognini.

Murray game has risen , yet Stanimal appears to have his game working better, Stanimal has the edge in 3,4,5.

Cheers

Murray is the only Big 4 player against whom Stan has a close record. This should be a tight one.

Neither of them is beating Rafa though.

Nishikori on Clay is tougher than anyone in Stan's quarter, Del Potro is the worst 3rd round anyone could wish for. I still think Murray's draw was overall tougher.

Hope Stan takes him out. I can't stand Murray and his boring game
If Murray makes the final, that will be the joke of the century. And another bakery fiesta a la 2008 for a climax.
That's what happens when all the dangerous opponents are in the other half

Depends on which Wawrinka shows up. No doubt that peak to peak he owns Murray on clay. But semifinals are usually his weakest stage at slams.

You said it was much tougher than Wawrinka's.

Nishikori and Del Potro were both playing below their standards in this tournament and Del Potro is probably the most overhyped threat on tour right now and I'm saying this as his fan. He was never going to beat Murray or any top 5 (or top 10) player in a BO5 set match on clay, he doesn't have the stamina to do so. If there's anything impressive about Murray's win against Del Potro is that he beat him in straight sets cause I thought Del Potro would take the 1st or 2nd set but there was never any doubt who was gonna win the match.

hard to predict tbh, many things point to stan taking it, but murray won last year when a lot of people thought stan had the upperhand. hoping for stan but we'll see

Not this year. Monfils is always really tough in Paris and was ranked top 10 until recently. He played a really good match and Stan still straight setted him. Stan has had the tougher draw.

Not like it matters. Stan almost lost to Rosol last year and Murray was in way better form. Stan will win convincingly.

That or a match with Nadal. I think Stan can overpower him as well. I am rooting for Stan to get another GS
Stan/Thiem>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Murray>>>>>Nadal

I would cry if Stan and Thiem won their SF matches - a fantastic final with 2 of my favorite players just bashing their way to the title

Hmm, interesting one. I picked Wawrinka to get to the final at the beginning of the tournament but I also picked him to beat Murray in the semis last year yet Andy surprised me by playing a tactically great match to subdue him so who knows what'll happen this time round. And as a Djokovic fan it'll be quite difficult to watch in some ways because on the one hand if Wawrinka wins, Novak will be out of the top 3 for the first time since 2009(when he only needs one more week to become the third player in history to spend 400 consecutive weeks inside the top 3) but on the other hand I strongly suspect Stan will present more of a challenge to Nadal than Andy would so I don't really know who to root for on the day. :D Oh well, let's just hope for some great tennis, nice weather and a potential classic in the making. :)

Murray had to play consecutive 5 setters in the first 2 rounds last year. He wasn't in better form.

Murray is still playing like ass. Nishikori has always been a non-threat.

Stan wins without much trouble. Probably in three, outside shot at four but without competitive sets.

Yeah, Monfils is in his most dangerous form in France and on clay. He's 2-1 against Murray in France, beat him at the FO back in 2006, then again at the 2010 Paris MS and pushed Murray to 5 sets at the FO in 2014. He'd have his hands full.

The first 2 sets against Stan were one of the best matches I've seen Monfils play tbh. Every shot was hit deep into corners (none of that straight down the middle he usually does) and his retrieving was on point.

Don't even have a gut feeling about this one. I hope Murray rips his BH - that's one of the main reasons I watch him... love his BH, variety, and court-sense/IQ. I don't love his generally methodical FH and inexplicably inferior serve percentages (given his tall stature).
To me, it boils down to Murray's return of serve, avoiding at least a pitiful serving performance, how well Stan serves, and executing a game plan that doesn't play into Stan's strengths.
After that, it's mostly up to Stan how this turns out.

Murray wasn't even that great today and I saw the entire match. Nishikori was just hot and cold but luckily for Murray he was only hot for like 30% of the match, the rest was easy pickings. As I said earlier, I will be surprised to see Wawrinka lose more than one set in the SF. Wawrinka does everything better than Nishikori (except movement) and he can keep it up for 5 sets easily.

Really don't know about this one. Murray's run very closely resembles his run last year. Wawrinka, on the other hand, has played much better and hasn't lost a set so this could be a lot closer than last year's dismantling - he could even win it if he smothers Murray from the start.

Someone in 4 sets.
