these stats might count if they had both played the same players, but the fact is Stan has played a higher callibre of opponent

I Gave Nadal 3-0. Stan could make a set though, and I hope so.

I root Nadal on this one. Don't get me wrong, I am a Stan fan. I love his aggressive game and that fantastic BH. But the occasion for Nadal, and for the sport is so big that I want to see this DECIMA become real.

The good news for Stan: in 2015, Novak was winning 56% of baseline points going into the final. Stan managed to take that all the way down to 44%. Can he possibly do a similar thing today? Rafa winning 60% of baseline points going into today's match.... #TallOrder

One hour till lift off.
I am taking note of all the threads tellings Rafa fans to be afraid. They have me quaking, please, please, stop. I am getting so terrified here.

For me, the reading of the match will be Nadal capacity to counter attack.
We know Stan will be aggressive constantly, playng flatter, and Nadal topspinning to defend but counter attacking with is new flatter backhand and marvelous forehand.

Higher maybe but matchups don't work like that. Stan lost to so many lower calibers of players on his way to slam finals he never made.
Anyways, all the stats and precedents people are citing are only meaningful up to a point. Some apply, some don't. Every match is its own separate reality.

Announcement from Stan on his FB page! He's just added Paul Annacone to his team as an extra voice.

Today? Will Annacone be helping
As much as I like Stan I want Rafa to pummel him into the red dirt of Roland Garros, sorry if that's unpopular but that is what I want. Whether it will happen or not? Well that's another matter. Looking nervously forward to this match.
Don't be sorry.

Paul Annacone just announced on Tennis Channel that he's joining Stan's team with Magnus Norman for the grass court season...Stan will be going for the career slam of course

Paul has a new book coming out too, pictures of Fed and Sampras on the back cover, probably some stories about them too

ahh cool

In my head at the moment I can actually only see Stan outplaying Nadal in the rallies.

Hopefully Ralph will put my sinful thoughts to rest sooner rather than later.

I hope Rafa leaves it all out there on the court.
There will be tears after the match amongst him and his fans win or lose

Rafi needs to step up to the plate and be aggressive from the get go. Wawrinka's chip returns should give Nadal the initiative in his service games. In the rallies he needs to move Wawrinka around and prevent him from getting any rhythm. Should bring out the slice backhand when needed.

I hope Wawrinka's backhand is on fire, that way it forces Nads to commit to his FH dtl. If he finds that shot today, it's curtains for Wawrinka.

Let's do it.

Stan the only guy to make major finals the last four seasons straight? Impressive. (though Nolé can do it too, in one of the last two)
