Not sure what you mean here but "1 man 1 vote" is the most democratic process that we have and in France and Holland's recent elections where it is applied, fascists/extremists got defeated handily. The majority of people is still too educated to fall for the worst of the populist ideologies.
The positive about the American election is that it is the old who voted for T-Rex. The young voted massively against him. So there is hope after all ;)
Actually the single biggest divider is urban/rural + suburban.
Or intelligent/ terminally stupid
Or morally decent/ terminally greedy, short-sighted

I suppose this gives Busta one more day to relax. That match against Raonic was brootal. I wonder if Nadal is planning to eat him alive.

Damn! Nadal and Djok still playing at the same time! They could have put a women's match first on one court.
Don't they think of things like this?

Yes they do, they schedule 1/4's at the same time on both show courts to sell tickets, just like Wimbledon and just like they've been doing for many many years.

Every year it's the same stupid whinging complaints, it's very tiring.

Yes, because US otherwise isn't hostile to Russia and CIA doesn't meddle into their goverment affairs non-stop. Are you serious?

Russia is a nice boogeyman here and a convenient excuse for the losing side to avoid doing any kind of introspection. Powers always try to affect elections of their global competitors, it has always been the case and always will be. How succesful they are at doing so depends on how fertile the soil is for breeding mistrust.

If the mainstream US media wasn't so laughably one-sided and partisan in favour of one candidate people might not have turned to alternate internet news sources. 98% of winning LOL, never forget.
I don't follow your point. I literally said that the Russian propaganda didn't change the outcome, just was annoying and poisonous long term. And my point is that the US loves to do destabilization of adverse regimes and this will unquestionably be a tables turned situation for Putin the moment Trump is gone in Jan 2021.

While I agree the Dems offer no introspection or solutions to the problems that gave us Trump, there is no "winning" in the disasterous garbage we've gotten from Trump: internet privacy rolled back, net neutrality dying, EPA/environmental policy trashed, ally relationships damaged, record breaking Presidential vacation spending.

The best thing that can be said of Trump is he's such an incompetent buffoon that he can't pass any of his legislation through even a friendly congress.

Pretty much the only thing Trump has gotten right is that we need to focus on our internal problems first and stop illegal immigration.

But intelligent/stupid is more judgemental/subjective, that's why I used "educated" instead ;)
I would not mind New York seceding. The Republic of New York has a nice ring to it :D

Yeah it's weird. Was the same today. Then people who are more into WTA can watch both matches as well. So everybody wins.

So they couldn't change the OOP yesterday due to the concern about spectators, that they wouldn't be aware of it, but today they scheduled all the matches to be played 3 hs sooner. Hmm ...o_O

Oh come on now!
He's #10 in winning % on clay for 2017 (among players having played at least 10 clay matches):
1- Nadal: 94.4
2- Zverev: 84.2
3- Thiem: 81.0
4- Pouille: 75
5- Cilic, Djokovic: 72.7
7- Goffin: 71.4
8- Dolgo: 70
9- Berdych: 69.2
10- Busta: 68.0
(Next would be Cuevas, Chung, Nishi and Raonic with 66.7)
I don't think the Nadal camp should worry too much about a guy who has a lower winning % than Berd for Rafa ;)
The 2 guys in this list that are still in the draw and could challenge Nadal somewhat happen to play each other in quarter so Rafa will only have to handle one, not a bad deal at all for the king of clay...

And since I'm at it, top 10 best return game % for 2017 on clay (10+ matches played )
1- Schwartzman: 42
2- Nadal: 40
3- Thiem, Goffin, Djoko, Busta, Pouille: 31
8- Vinolas, Agut, Cilic: 30

Note that 5 out of the 10 best returners on clay this year were in Djoko's quarter at RG  (Schwartz, Thiem, Goffin, Pouille and Vinolas). Unreal, no? (compare that to 0 in Murray's quarter. No comment )

Top 10 service games won %:
1- Raonic: 91
2- Anderson: 88
3- Cilic: 87
4- Nadal, Berdych: 86
5- Zverev, Cuevas, Coric, Zeballos, Dolgo, Bedene, Wawa: 84

Note that Nadal and Cilic are the only 2 players making both lists. Next RG finalists? ;)

Didn't you post the other day that Cilic is a joke on clay and no worry for anybody?

Cilic has been looking good but I think his road will likely end in his match vs Stan.

I wonder why everyone is underrating Cilic against Wawrinka; Stan has no apparent advantage other than having won the French Open before. Cilic, on his best day, is probably just as good as Stan. I hope we get an amazing match today.

The clues might be the overall 11-2 h2h in favor of Stan, the clay h2h of 5-0 in favor of Stan and the fact that Stan has won the last seven consecutive matches? Just a hunch. ;)

But yes, it's possible Cilic could zone like crazy and beat Stan.

It's Stan on his best surface versus Cilic on his worst surface.

Last time they played on clay Stan won in straight sets and the previous clay match before that Stan absolutely slaughtered Cilic, allowing him just 2 games.

Stan has started to get into extremely good form so far in the tournament, too, wiping out Fognini, Monfils and Dolgopolov in straights sets, including bagelling Fognini quite roughly. In comparison Cilic has done well but he really hasn't played any claycourters, so his current form is harder to assess.

Makes sense that people are expecting Stan to get through this one imo.

This probably mean Eurosport is showing Nad-Busta and Mur-Kei... while I think the other two matches are the most interesting ones.

Laptop time, then!

Cilic looks dangerous... hope Stan can deliver.

#4

Yea most of it is mental. It was weird hearing him talk about how he doesn't want to work as hard as he did before, etc. His mindset seems to have taken a total 180 over the last year and it's strange for someone who dominated like he did. Maybe he has been drained though, physically, mentally, emotionally...I guess it's most about how much do you still want this? It's weird how everything fell apart and he got rid of his team, but we all need a fresh start sometimes. With his talent though and his experience, anything is possible even in this tournament. But its still a question mark if he can just turn on the switch again, right now.
Same here. You're lucky to live where you do, well at least this time of year. You can keep the winter. :) I'm thinking of relocating again. I so miss the East Coast and the Mid west is not really my vibe. We will see what happens though.

Definitely agree.

When nyc is bad it's sucks and you'd probably be better off for your health somewhere else, but on a nice day in the right time of year, nothing beats it. Definitely would be more chill in ******* or even LA tho,

I too think Stan is going to win. But I don't think it will be in straight sets. Cilic has been playing too well to lose in such a way.

They haven't made any changes to the billed line-up though have they? This is just an extra bonus.

So much stupid on the internet

Not when every third comment on the site in the last 24 hours is complaining about scheduling due to adverse weather conditions, it's ridiculous. The entitled whinging with not an ounce of self reflection is just baffling.

If you think so you could just have chosen not to read and "count" them. Chill out. The matches are on soon. And it's not just abt the weather.

Vamos Rafa! Hope it's not too early of a match for Nadal lol

I still think Busta can do some real damage though. Despite weather looking better.
