Djokovic is back to playing his old cat-and-mouse, ping-pong, wait-for-the-error game again. He may have won this set... but that is not going to get it done for the rest of the tournament. You aren't in great clay form when you get broken twice in the first set of a slam by Ramos-Vinolas... only to require a tiebreak that you barely win.

Thiem, Nadal, and possibly Cilic/Wawrinka await.

Well ARV has played well. Little Diego and ARV basically top ten players on clay.:p

You're citing a few points and ignoring all the points where he was dictating rallies and hitting winners... try to be objective

I agree with you but please don't include Cilic. Cilic is a joke on clay and would do absolutely zip even vs this version of Djoko!

Only way Djokovic gets to the final if he gets through this match and Thiem is make it a war of attrition and get Nadal nervous in a 5th set. His service game is not going to beat Nadal in under 5 sets.

Objective? A few points? The entire reason that Djokovic was so close to losing that first set is because he would not try to end points. He instead was trying to make Vinolas miss. That's the entire reason he got broken twice.

It's not like Vinolas was "GOATing" or anything. The guy is a clay mug. Djokovic played the same way against Schwartzman and almost lost the match.

So which match are you watching, exactly?

You Djokovic fans need to understand what "dictating" means. It is not merely hitting corner to corner with medium pace. Any clay mug does that in every single match.

Playing "Pong" is not dictating.

If it was, then I figure that Somdev Devvarman and Agnieska Radwanka are the greatest dictators of points that our sport has ever seen.
