McEnroe saying Nadal tanked against Thiem. Then backtrack saying he was tired and needed a rest to prepare for F.O

Getting the ball kids involved, I bet he forces him to practice the moves at home before the match.

McEnroe knows everything, right?

McEnroe said it was a "no brainer" Nole had a better chance of beating Nadal, than Thiem does. Not a no brainer, but Nadal would be licking his chops to meet up again against Thiem. Nole gaining in confidence.

Congrats to Novak on reaching his 11th RG quarterfinal and surpassing Vilas with a 59th match win. He also equals Connors with 233 GS match wins which is all the more impressive as it's only taken him 50 slams to do so compared to Jimmy and Federer who needed to play two more to reach the same mark. Just goes to show how incredibly consistent he's been throughout his career. :)

Well that escalated quickly. Djokovic found some form here but Thiem is playing very well I think it will be a great match or here's hoping for Meles sake.

Do you get the impression Ramos is tiring him or playing him into form? Djokovic is getting better.
These tough matches have played Djokovic into form without a doubt. The Diego 5 setter as we discussed was not enough to tire him and this certainly won't be. Thiem is the next perfect sparring partner for Djokovic to get ready for Nadal; lots of spin.

The Muzziah needs a miracle to win the FO this year, so hopefully it'll go something along the lines of "Thiem wears down Djoko over 5 hours, who wears down Nadal over 6 hours". Ah crap forgot about Stanwrinka.

The Professor can expel Stanimal from the grounds in a blazing display of tennis bravura. A lesson to remember. Then promptly tank a potential semi-final, as we saw last year.

I hope for a competitive first set. Thiem goes into this match with no pressure he should start well, last week the betting odds were close and one match doesn't mean he can't beat Djokovic.

I agree with you but please don't include Cilic. Cilic is a joke on clay and would do absolutely zip even vs this version of Djoko!

I'm not so sure about that. Cilic has looked good at the FO and I think Cilic in his form with his big game would probably be tougher for Djokovic than Thiem will be.

So you've moved your Servebot love from Raonic to Cilic? No love for the Zedbot!

Yes Cilic has been good on clay this year surprisingly.;)

I've always liked Cilic's game. The problem is he plays well twice a year.

Objective? A few points? The entire reason that Djokovic was so close to losing that first set is because he would not try to end points. He instead was trying to make Vinolas miss. That's the entire reason he got broken twice.

It's not like Vinolas was "GOATing" or anything. The guy is a clay mug. Djokovic played the same way against Schwartzman and almost lost the match.

So which match are you watching, exactly?
I guess not the match you were watching. I saw Ramos hitting great FHs with solid depth and Djoker hitting FH winners. You saw what you wanted to see. Several non-ND fans commented on the quality of the groundstrokes in set 1. After that it was even more ND domination.

Oh come on, Ramos-Vinolas is essentially a mug. Mightyrick is right on this one IMO. Djokovic in a wheelchair could beat him.

For whatever he is, yesterday the first set had some very high quality exchanges with excellent FH winners by both guys. It just gets old to see the same pusher nonsense thrown out
