Anyone who watched two or three matches of his matches in this tournament can see that Wawrinka isn't exactly in his top form.

IMHO, Wawrinka was lucky to get through to the final match.

I Agree, particularly against Nishioka. I was hoping he would do a trademark Stan Final, though :( But it is still great that he survived all the way to the final. I hope he plays well in Miami.

I guess Federer wouldn't mind it if he beats Nadal for once at RG.

lmao nah, fed cares about the title, it isnt like beating nadal is some bench mark, and while i get he is clay court king, it wouldn't do fed good if he beat rafa on fo and went on to lose and i can already see the presser if they ask that question. all that being said, its still very far away and hopefully novak is healthy so he, stan, and hey knows maybe even clayray might have something to say

I really can't see that happening as hard as I try. I think Nadal would retire on the spot if that happened.

Almost got it.

The real version would be that Tio calls an ambulance to collect little nephew from the court.

I agree.

Beating Nadal at RG, if it isn't the final is not that big of a deal.

It would be nice, but not in a meaningful way.

Let's see how the year goes. It's still a long way to go.

You can't be too confident Federer, at 36, will maintain this kind of form throughout the year, but yeah, that would be nice.
No, that was obviously a stretch but since Fed said he's planning to still play for 2-4 more years it wouldn't be surprising to see him win a couple more titles. He obviously won't keep this up throughout 2017 but I can easily see him with 2-3 more titles this year, maybe even another Slam.

I had Fed winning in three. He's more efficient then that!
He just pressured Stan when it mattered. That's why Stan hit too many long. That tipped the errors count.

Great week for them both. Prevailing in the draw of death, yes the Kyrgios withdrawl helped.

Looking forward to Miami. Sad about the reduced field.

As usual don't get cocky my fellow Fed fans. You're only setting yourselves up for disappointment if you're expecting a bit too much :p

I hope one of Nadal or Stan wins Miami.

I hope if Fed wins Wimby he brings all 4 kids on court with him for the Presentation interview. What a sight that would be.

Tough pick. Nadal has suffered numerous disappointments in Miami, while I feel for Stan after this match :(

But I think Nadal will reach the final. Every 3 years he does it: 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014

2017?

i think, and hope, most people are having a bit of fun. I agree though because anything can happen. 2016 itself is proof that things can change on a dime, and you have, arguably, the two most dominant players in 2016, now struggling to find form due to injuries. the year has just begun, so who knows what fed's form is going to be going into the second half of the year, and with novak/murray hopefully being healthy it will be interesting.

Why did Stan change his racket at all when he was leading and that too just when he was going to serve ?

Felt bad for him when he choked in his speech. Never realized this meant so much to him. Perhaps losing to Fed yet again was more to do with that than the missed opportunity to get a masters

I think that most of us a just living with the go(o)dness!

Doesn't mean we are forgetting that he is not all that young and whatever comes with it.

Miami is so open now .. Stan is tired and will tank . Kyrgios is sick, Murray and Djok out , 36 year Fed, RAonic and Nishikori yet again injured...looks like Rafa can get Miami !!

I know Fed's not going to maintain this kind of level. It's not 2006 anymore.

I'm just enjoying it while I can. Once the clay season comes, I don't think I'll see much of Fed.

Right now I'm already waiting for the grass season to see Fed in action again and winning.

Or maybe it's something else entirely, i.e. something personal? I doubt it's only that he lost a Masters 1000 to Federer.

No, you wouldn't.

:D

I really would. For me, if Federer decided to skip the FO I would completely understand. It's hard to see how he would win it and why put out so much energy with the risk of injury to his older body. I think he should focus on Wimbledon and the USO.

grass season is kind of worrying tbh, because he is defending quite a bit.

He was defending a fair few points at the Aussie open this year, but ended up getting more , I think when he gets on grass either 2 things will happen, he will dominate, or we will expect him to dominate and some random guy defeats him somewhere along the lines like Donskoy

that would be a travesty.
