I didn't realize I had so many sicko's on ignore, as I didn't notice anything being 'wrong' with the earlier thread...

Okay, once again: I feel Rafa will take this, most possibly in three.
Court and circumstances suit him, and he's looking very fine indeed. Yep, obviously the easier part of the draw, but then again, perhaps he made all those expendable characters look as bad as they did by actually playing well himself? ;)
It would be nice to see him finally bag Miami, after having been in the final so many times (4? 5?) before.
Fed has already had a huge share of the 2017 Cake, let Rafa have his part, too!

I tend to be awfully wrong in my predictions lately, though. So take it for what it's worth.
Overal chances Fed - Nadal: 40-60.

I think Federer wins if he serves very well, and it has to be very well. Chances of Federer serving very well? 40% ;)

Deep run confirmed, at least.

I have nobody on ignore and it seemed perfectly fine to me. Odd.

Are you sure you will cheer for Nadal? Or will you be switching during the match? ;)

I hate it when threads and discussions disappear. Anyways, Roger takes this in 2. The court is slower, but Roger adapted very well to the conditions. Nadal was his nemesis, but the H2H would be different had they met more often the last 2 years.

Roger will serve well and drop backhand bombs on the return. 6-3 6-3.

Fed handled the Nick serve well. He was the better player in 5+ shot rallies too.
I don't think Rafa's serve is gonna trouble him. The relatively faster conditions will also help him as it's a day match.
Fedr in 2 sets if he keeps his form for 1 more day.

I think people are writing Roger off here, wrongly. He has won the last 3 matches against Rafa, and is riding a confidence high at the moment. I don't think he is too tired to play a 3 set final at all. One match, and Roger can take a month off, whereas Rafa has a lot coming up that he needs to be ready for. I think it will be a closer match, but Roger should take it in 2 tight sets, or 3 if he has a lapse mentally. If anything, I think the kurious match has focused and centred Roger. He might be tired, but he will be confident after coming through that one.

nasal needs to find a way to hold serve easier!
in their 2 matches this it seemed nadal needed fed to make errors to hold although that's the risk of playing the way he does

Rafa has yet to face an elite returner in this tournament, so it's still not clear where his serve is as of now. The guys like Kohlschreiber, Mahut, Sock... are not the players who would exploit his serve constantly enough and put a pressure on Nadal in his service games. Had he played Nishikori, Novak, Murray..we would've had a better picture of how good his serve actually is.

Federer has been returning extremely well yesterday (he broke Kyrgios twice and had 12 break points; for comparison, Novak couldn't break Nick in two matches they played) and I expect him to do even better tomorrow. He seems to be very confident after winning the last two matches he could've easily lost. And, finally, I don't think he's afraid of Nadal anymore, the victories in Australia and Indian Wells confirm that he's beaten the demons of the past and that he clearly has an effective game plan.

Voted for Roger, but expecting a good match, both players are playing well right now.

Good analysis. Good point on Federer's return game. It's true that Novak couldn't even get to a BP in two matches against Kyrgios. But that has also to do with the match up. Federer has too much variety for power players whereas someone like Novak needs to be very sharp to beat them.

I agree that Federer is not afraid of Nadal at all now. He played freely against him at Indian Wells and it was Rafa who looked clueless in their match. So, if Rafa somehow beats Roger tomorrow, it would be because he's the better player. At least in the match.

Totally agreed and the potential "he was tired" excuses for Fed will be a usual crap. I won't buy a mental tiredness (because of the year he's had) either, because we could use the same excuse for Nadal, having in mind the amount of tennis he's played (the AO/Acapulco/Miami finals and the QF at IW).

It is crazy tickets are almost $600 for the cheapest seats. I will be there to witness this and cannot be happier. It will be a lot of fun and drama
I'm sure you'll have a great time there, man! It's a dream for a tennis fan in this era.

It's interesting to see so many people confident that Federer will win tomorrow. The guy has played a lot of tennis this tournament. And he is 35. Nadal is much fresher.

Anyway, whatever happens, it feels like a dream to see Fed in the finals in all 3 of AO, IW and Miami. The fact that he won 2 of these 3 finals is even better. So no matter what happens, he is still the best player of this season so far.

as a rafa fan i hope that nadal can win it...but being realistic there is no chance for rafa to win it against this agressive federer.

if federer hits the ball like he did before than it would be like the match at indian wells

nadal needs to play agressive fromthe first point...if not...zero chance

I think that the two-week format gives Federer enough time to recover physically and I expect him to be fresh tomorrow. He's played a lot of tennis prior to the AO final as well, and it's B05 format, but looked fresher in the final match.
And it's interesting that Nadal has played more official matches than Fed this year, 23 (19-4 W-L) compared to Fed's 19 (18-1 W-L), so I expect them to be equally fresh. If someone wins, it will be because he was a better player.

Fed had a difficult time against Bautista Agut and looked tired to me at the end of the Berdych match, but his movement was fine yesterday and it was the best he played in Miami. With a day's rest and his motivation, I don't think tiredness will be a factor tomorrow and will not attribute a Fed loss to to it. Fed is the favorite given his current level of play and confidence and recent history against Rafa, but it's clear it will be a closer match than IW and Nadal has a shot at winning this, I will be surprised if either player wins it easily.

Have a feeling Rafa will win this one. Oldman has been winning far too much lately, probably time to step down a little. It would be great to see Nadal finally capturing that Miami crown.

this match is going to be about who can bring more sustained intensity. roger has the game to keep nadal at bay but it requires stepping in constantly, playing with intent and keeping that racket head speed working. if he shifts into neutral and starts stroking the ball nadal's going make him run, draw errors, and take it.
same for nadal, he needs to enter pain mode, extra oomph on the forehand, run like crazy...just get vicious like in olden days.

The AO surface was faster. It was much easier to end points quicker.

I mean each of his 5 setters on average was as long as his Kyrgios match. That should tell you a lot.

Yes but tie breaks are usually more lengthy in nature and it was more of a "serve fest" yesterday for a 3 hours match. Fed played just 1 TB in his three 5 sets matches at AO in comparison.

To those asking why it got deleted, I am not exactly sure but my guess would be people were bringing in the Kyrgios match in it and started bashing the crowd and were offtopic.

Fed has played 7 tiebreaks in Miami so far. He has played more tiebreaks this tournament than the entire season before Miami

Kyrgios also took a hell of a lot of time between points, a lot of the points weren't even very long. Long match but I'm not sure it was as taxing as you might think by just looking at the match time.

Yeah. As with most of your posts, I agree.

Nadal is red hot at the moment and highly motivated for this match. I'd go so far as saying that Nadal has a 65% chance because of Fed's added fatigue.

A Fed win would mean more than a Nadal win at this point, as Nadal has the clay season to look forward to. A Fed win would be HUGE and would establish him as Roger 2.0.

Federer played a bunch of 5-setters against overall superior talent, was dealing with a leg injury and 6 months of rust, and went 5 sets against Nadal, too, at the AO Open. Still won. You guys worry about fatigue too much in 3-set matches following a day off.

The winner of this match will the guy that outplays the other, taking into account the conditions tomorrow. No more, no less.
