This match scheduled for not before 1:30 pm local time, the first singles SF of the day. Doubles SF first up at 11:30 am.

They have met once before on the ATP tour at Auckland 2015. Pouille won in straights quite comfortably.

Huge opportunity for both guys here, will be gunning for their first ever Masters final. A fascinating match up, may the best man win.

Career defining moment for both. Cheering for the Federer protegé to come through in straights and then win his first Masters ;-)

A bit of a slow start from Lucas here, lack of 1st serves in his opening game, and a couple of gifts. ARV with a huge inside in forehand, which forces the error. Breaks for 1-0.

He's a very disciplined player, ARV. I think he'll need to up the ante on 1st serve speed. Pouille's backhand return has been top notch.

Pouille does break back right away.

A couple of stunning points from Lucas, back to back. Huge injections of pace off both wings. Deuce, ARV serving.

ARV toughens out the hold for 2-2.

I think Rafa would dispatch both if he was to win today so not thinking that way but would like ARV to win because I don't think he'll ever be in a similar position and I kinda expect Pouille to atleast be fighting for some Masters in the future, having said that I think revenge over Pouille for the ****ty loss last year at the USO would be sweat. :)

Point of the match so far! ARV hanging on in the rally, manages to get the upper hand, but can't put the volley away. Pouille goes back behind him with the forehand pass. 30-30.

Huge inside out forehand winner from Lucas to hold. Leads 3-2.

Rafa is the king so obviously none of these losers will have a chance of beating him!

ARV has 2 BPs here. Great return sets up the huge inside out forehand. Takes care of the short reply. Lucas with only 48% 1st serves.

ARV breaks for 4-3.

He plays pretty solid until going up the break, then the errors creep back in.

Nothing at all interesting about his game though.

ARV holds on for 5-3, serve out wide forcing the error. Rock solid so far, Pouille over-hitting a tad.

Pouille increasingly frustrated here. A couple of poor errors, and it's love 30. Can't seem to find the balance required.

ARV with all the momentum right now. Jogs to his seat, as he holds for 1-0. "Disciplined shot selection" in the words of Koenig. It's how he defeated Fed at Shanghai as well, plus the poor play on the important points from Fed.

Bert absolutely dominating the body language stats at the moment, Pouille really needs to step it up if he's to have a chance.

LP will win in 3, hopefully.

ARV has a watertight clay game that takes a lot of beating. If LP makes the final he will be exhausted and will get wrecked by Nadal in straights, I think.

Pouille feeling the pressure out there, ARV defending brilliantly but finally coughs up a short ball, but Pouille with all the time in the world misses it wide.

Such a good hold from ARV, saving 2 BPs. So tactically astute.

Poor Carlos Bernades being made to toil in the hot sun, climbing down and back up to his chair to check ball marks.

He gets all his cardio done during clay season. I bet he can't wait for grasscourt swing for cooler temperatures and more comfortable umpiring.

no revenge for you?

It's annoying when guys do nothing for their entire career except show up for an important Nadal match and turn into the Hulk and make faces they know will be memes and then disappear :p

That's why I'm #TeamKyrgios
Beat him by all means, but then do something with yourself! Lol

ARV just misses the forehand wide, and it's 30-30 here. Pouille playing purely defensive tennis in this game, and ARV's forehand sprays another error. BP.

ARV saves another BP, and holds on for 5-4, 2nd set. One game away from the final. Pouille's court positioning not doing himself any favours, especially when the return lands too short and/or central. ARV's inside out forehand has been excellent all tournament.
