He used to allow them sets back then too :D
But that said, Ferrer's complete inability to score a single win has surprised me for sure, especially since he's such a tough competitor. Match up issue, I guess

Yes, Federer said the same. That it was shocking for him too. Maybe a win is in Ferrer's future.:D

Alright fed just two more matches. Just win this, get 1 or 2 matches in Cincy then flop and then take uso. Trying not to be too selfish so someone else can win real slam and fed can save some energy

Well Haase shouldn't prove too difficult. Hopefully Zverev or Shap vs Fed in the final. Though I'd be cool seeing Kevin Anderson in a M1000 final. Would be a great accomplishment for him.

Good win on the whole. Still many UE on the BH, and the serve percentage not what he'd like it to be. But he's not going to have to raise his level until the final I guess.

Which is surprising. Ferrer seems to have the style of play that is supposed to bother Roger. He is always keeping the ball in play and is defending like a wall. Kinda like Simon and Simon has troubled Roger on many occasions.

Oh dude. Just relax. You are crazy bi polar before, during and after the match that you go into sudden burst of rage for no apparent reason. Federer is not playing nor serving his best but he will get the job done and you need to chill.

Maybe so but i am starting to wonder if that back's acting up. He was fortunate that agut's on the other side today.

If Federer straight sets everyone, there is no reason why he can't win both back to back. He is fresh, not just in this tournament, but in general at this time of the season.

Federer wants that number one ranking, he is not stopping now...

Federer through, solid but no fireworks. Shouldn't have too many problems with Haase but if Zverev is in the final Fed better up his level because he's not winning this if he doesn't improve.

If Sasha beats Anderson, I think he makes the final. And if Roger is there,he'd play inspired tennis I'm sure.

Recuperation should stille be an issue. Though he did win 3 5set matches in Ozzy. Hell neef to refuel though

I think yesterday was the time and he couldn't hang on - Rog was being particularly generous with the errors as well.
Murray has also generously made way for someone to grab Number 1, Rafa politely declined. Tennis really is a gentleman's game

Probably gonna be an asinine question
But I'm asking it anyway.

Between yesterday and today...
Does anyone think that he's trying to do something new with his serve? (Don't know what yet). Like a new tweak? I wonder if he's using this event as a try out for new stuff. Though I'm not yet seeing where he's going, if that's what it is.

Reason is: his serve used to be his cheap-point giver. But these past two days he's been giving away cheap points and whole breaks...

He will be fine. He destroyed everyone during the grass season, got plenty of rest over the clay season, had a nice month off just before Montreal. He will be good, as long as he continue to straight set everyone from here. This draw is exactly what he needed here, and in Cincy without a doubt he will be a monster imo.

Big deal. The guy is not playing great, we all know that. He has just been having some bad days, that's all.

It's a pretty good match up for Fed I guess, but love how he is not interested in extending the rallies anymore. He just tries to go and get the point somehow; and often literally goes - to the net. The result is, even in a day where he seemingly hits errors and doesn't serve that well, he ends up routining the match in 68 minutes. In that sense even the misses are okay for him (more so on the return games of course), cause it shortens the match. It was a similar case against Ferrer, Ferrer just played much more tenaciously. Fed will of course lose many matches along the way but I'd prefer him to play this way to the very end.

I'm trying not to be too greedy here. Lol and as I say that I want no.20 and 6th uso. I figured if he does win eventually he will get no.1

Why would he lose many matches along the way playing such aggressive tactics? He's done so every match this year and only had two (mostly inexplicable) losses.

"monster"

Roger Federer is a one-eyed man ruling a blind kingdom.

Dunno but 2nd serve was wicked today, as it has been large parts of 2017.

Yep. That's why Nadal was so furious in his presser. He still has a chance to grab the number one after Cincy. The matches are getting closer, so sooner or later Ferrer should get a win.

Having these short matches is part of the plan of how he can play to 40. Rafa OTOH plays super long matches and has no plans to play to 40.

Honestly I felt this was the prime opportunity for Ferrer to get that win. Next time they play will be a beatdown.

That "many" came out a little wrong maybe, but "along the way" as in until he retires. If he's to play 2-3 more years he'll of course lose his fair share of matches.

At least you are not like a certain someone who has just posted she wants him to win everything and deny being greedy.
