Dunno but 2nd serve was wicked today, as it has been large parts of 2017.
Yeah I was amused by that too. Was just about to go back and edit my post to mention that, but you beat me to it.

I was just wondering about "trying new stuff" thing, because he seems like he prefers to use these places as testing grounds. Like SABR at Cincy and stuff. Especially against people he has a bit of confidence in defeating...

Eh I don't know. It's 1 hr to sunrise where I am and I doubt am making much sense.

Federer didn't play well but still enough to win. Same as last match against Ferrer. I think guys like Agut enter the court against Federer already defeated. They cannot even think about being aggressive and capitalizing on Fed's mistakes. Ferrer at least tried.

As a Federer's fan, I'd rather see him facing Zverev in the final rather than Shapovalov. I think Zverev would respect Federer a little bit more, would think twice here and there. Shapovalov is on fire, I'm not sure Roger at this point will even reach his winners.

I'm deep into a bottle of Plantation 20th anniversary but I think you're making sense bud :D where you at anyway?

Which is surprising. Ferrer seems to have the style of play that is supposed to bother Roger. He is always keeping the ball in play and is defending like a wall. Kinda like Simon and Simon has troubled Roger on many occasions.

Simon is more annoying, less predictable with sudden injections of pace.

Oh no! That means some 19-year-old future Slam champion/#1 will upset him in his second match at TRS. Could it be Angrey Andrey Rublev???

Maybe so but i am starting to wonder if that back's acting up.

Thought the same during the Ferrer match. Saw him reach for it once or twice, fairly obviously. And it's not like he would be honest about it at this point. Seemed not to affect him so much today though...

To be a parallel universe, it would have to be an anglo. Kyle Edmond? Draw's not out?
He's not 19 like mury was and Andrey is. Jay Clarke? Not playing, if I'm not mistaken. We can make believe Rublev is a Brit for a week, I guess. We're all gonna be Russian soon anyhow.

I liked his ground game today. A lot better than yesterday.

Ljub and Paganini did race up the stairs from the box after disaster was averted.

I seriously hope that it's not his back or else everything else will be jeopardized. We, Roger fans are so greedy cannot be satisfied with his 19th, now we want no.1 and 20th.

Lmao, so is Agut like 2-6000 against the top guys now? And Haase in the semis? Tour is in the worst state ever right now

Federer looked much better physically than yesterday. Much lighter on his feet. Looks like he is slowly getting into shape for USO.

Sure, but his BH not in shape yet. 1st serve ups and downs, not very good either. Hope it gets better.

On the other hand, Shapovolov is not strong today as he was yesterday. Maybe he plays better against opponents like Nadal. I'm not sure he'll beat Mannarino.

God, who cares, people. Can't be satisfied with a comfortable win, nope. Federer has to win just so using the most beautiful strokes possible and and serving up the piping hottest of bagels. And even then y'all are unhappy.

I think he's improved his form enough to beat the players left. I would favor Federer against anyone still in the tourney.

Last time Fededer faced Zverev in Halle he beat the guy badly, but he was playing better back then. I don't doubt Roger, but he's not in his best moment.

BH was vastly improved over last match. The trend is good.

I think Federer will still win. Even if he loses here, this is like a match practice so it won't be a disaster. He'll only get better from here.

Definitely. I also liked when it was 4-4 in the first, Federer basically stepped up the aggression, wanting to get that break. It was like he said "I'm going to drive now" and just took over the match.

Federer has been a monster at Cincy since before halve of TW members were born. He even owned peak Djokovic there, so competition doesn't really matter. But nice trolling.
This isn't about Cinci. I know how good Federer is there.

Federer has been inconsistent all year, and he's won because he did play well in those matches he needed to.
