Goddamnit. Two men hitting yellow balls over a net, while grunting half the time. Who the **** watches this ****?

28 W to 18 UEs from fed.
17 to 27 UEs from Haase.

Fed played a fairly decent match. Haase played well in the 2nd set.

Nice effort from Haase. Fed playing slightly better with each match. Really enjoyed some of the spectacular winners from Fed in the first set.

6th final for Federer in Canada masters , only 2nd at Montreal.
He's won twice, both at Toronto, in 04 (final def roddick), 06 (final def gasquet)
lost at Toronto in 10 to Murray and in 14 to Tsonga
lost in montreal 07 to djokovic -- a winnable match -- that was djokovic's big announcement of himself (def federer, nadal and roddick in the same tournament)

Fred: "I didn't think I'd do very well here because I was on vacation for a while then went home and did some fitness and worked out. Practiced and said you know what I've had enough practice let's go and play"

Unreal.

Fed has won Cinci 7 times. Cinci ends 8 days before USO starts. So Fed must think he can go to the final in both Canada and Cinci and still have enough in the tank to win USO?

I think he legit thinks Zed will win.

Zed coming off a big win in Wash, and as Fred points out Shap has played A LOT of matches this week.
True, the kid has spent a lot of gas this week but he's fooled everyone thus far. Surely he has to run out eventually?
Zverev to reestablish the order of things.

We won't be sure about it until USO is over but we may be looking too much on the close schedule. Let's not forget this was the first year ever Federer skipped 100% of the Clay Season so he might have some more gas than we think.

Went to both Finals in 2014... and was gassed by the semi against Cilic.

Although Summer 2014 was just a weird year for Fred anyways.

Yes, probably. And it wouldn't be surprising. He clearly came in very fresh to Montreal and didn't spend much time on court. Likely will be the same in Cincy even if he goes all the way.

Then again, let's see if he'll actually decide to play Cinci. He probably will but you never know.

Many people say Fed was tired at USO 2014 but not sure if that's the case, and definitely sure that's not the reason he lost to Cilic. Fed was already playing sort of up and down in Montreal and Cincy, but got it done in Cincy.

really was classic by Haase...standing O's in the locker room next week

great guy, Fed, but it has to irk slightly over time, even for a pro

Ljubo the chess master, clearly making Fred a smarter 4.5.

You have to admire Fed's honesty. He really looks like he just came from vacation - BH is out of sorts, FH is not as deadly as it was, even the serve seems to be a bit off; yet he is still winning rather comfortably. The only place he really has been magical the whole tournament is at the net - really takes me back to Edberg's days. It can be a weak era or the fact he is the GOAT, but does it really matter? He gets the job done.

I fully expect him to lift his game for the final against Zverev (can't see Shapo making it), but I think he can just as easily lose it. I'd still make him the favourite just because this season he always raised his game when he played a top 10 opponent and is yet to lose to one, let alone lose a final or even a match at a big tournament, But he ain't as sharp as he was in Halle and Sascha is better, that's for sure.
