The match was a sock for Sock. If Sock or Isner wins Bercy, would this be the first Masters 1000 title for currently active American player?

What an attitude from Sock. I hope Benny takes him to the cleaners tomorrow.

Isner Busta or sock

The worst scenario for busta is if sock & isner reach the finals

Best scenario both murican players out before the F

It socks, doesnt it?
:p

At this point Im ambivalent of it all.
Could maybe cheer for Isner to take it, just because he is cute
I can't ever cheer for Isner. Never liked his tennis anyway but since hearing about his politics ...

I know mixing sports & politics is a bad idea, and I probably don't want to know other players' political opinions either. Quite used to like Safin and now he's one of Putin's puppets in parliament. :(

But I just can't help it in Isner's case. I don't like cheering for players to lose and I don't do it with him either but it does cost me some self-restraint ...

If Krajinovic makes the final in Paris, it'd be a disgrace to Janowicz's run in 2012.

Why so? Both were wildcards who made the best of their draws and enjoyed unexpectedly good runs. Janowicz certainly claimed the biggest scalp by beating world #3 Murray whilst Krajinovic didn't get his chance against injured world #1 Nadal. On the other hand, Janowicz may have had a bit of luck too when he faced an injured Tipsarevic in his next round. Who knows?

Worst masters SF lineup for a long time. I hear Sky Sports are going to be showing a repeat of Fishomania instead.

Perhaps the poll could be used to run a sweepstake on how many times the commentators mention Federer and Nadal during the SFs and final.

i like to usually maintain ignorance is bliss in terms of wondering what my fav's political opinions are and just hope for the best but isner is so blatant about his that I have no problems being blatant about my dislike for him if that makes sense. and i know some will scoff and be like its just politics and how does it affect you or w/e but it is hard for me to wrap my mind and support in any way someone that hateful

I just can't imagine the level of despair a poor soul must be feeling to have purchased months ago tickets to the Semifinal Saturday session of this masters 1000 tourney.... excitedly ticking away the boxes on the calendar in feverish excitement as the day draws near... only to have the day finally come and it be ...THIS.

Sir John Isner respect the fans and the game so Sir John loses the first set to ensure that the Parisian fans get more live Tennis.

Krajinovic is qualifier

Krajinovic downed Isner! 6-4,6(2)-7,7-6(5).

Shocking and disappointing outcome for Isner who was a break up in the deciding breaker and poised to close things out. He will most likely never get such a golden opportunity to land a Masters title again. Terrible sense of an opportunity well and truly squandered!:(

Congrats to the qualifier! Best match of his life to the Final of Masters 1000!

He was a deserved winner and showed he wanted it more. He will be the first qualifier/wildcard to make the final of a Masters 1000 since Janowicz at this same event 5 years ago. Judging by the way he's been playing, he could easily go all the way!

Tennis Channel reporting a negative ultrasound for Rafa from Spain, no new damage, will be in London

they showed the tweet, but I can't seem to pull it up myself

from Nadal News thread...

After performing an ultrasound in Barcelona, Dr. Angel Ruiz Cotorro discards a different injury to the Asian tour and raises a specific treatment with the goal of being in the Masters Cup.

Rafa's Health

¤¤ Ángel Ruiz Cotorro, Rafael Nadal's trusted doctor, received the tennis player at his clinic in Barcelona on Friday afternoon and immediately started to work.
First, the doctor did several tests to see the condition of the patellar tendon of the right knee, which forced Rafa not to play in the quarterfinals of the Paris Masters.
Secondly, he wanted to see if the injury is exactly the same as Rafa suffered during the Asian tour (the knee joint stress) and which forced him to withdraw from the tournament in Basel.
And thirdly, he chose a specific treatment, the goal of which is recovering in time to play at the WTF in London.

"It is not a new injury or an injury that has worsened," Cotorro explained by telephone to this newspaper [EL Espanol]. "It's not a different situation than when Rafa came from the Asian tour. All the images of the tests tell us that it's the same problem - the knee tendon is suffering," added the doctor, who has already consulted the Mallorcan after Shanghai and diagnosed the knee joint stress accumulated during the long season.
"Rafa has played a lot of matches this season. The knee tendon is suffering, but the images do not show us anything different either [than after Shanghai]: it's pain in a stressful situation ".
"Rafa did the right thing by retiring," said Cotorro, who spoke with the player on Friday morning and supported him in his decision not to jump on the court.
"The problem of tendons in different situations may bother more or less, but we'll try to recover in time to play in London. If he is well, he'll play, and if he is not well, he will give up playing. We'll see how things evolve in the coming days. "
Thus, on Friday, Rafa began a specific treatment that will combine physiotherapy, rehabilitation and muscle strengthening in Mallorca, trying to recover in time to play at the WTF in London.¤¤

But for Big Izzy's brainfart in the final set tie-break, we could have had the first all-American final at Bercy since 1978 (Lutz v Gullikson)!

As it is, we will have an American in the Paris final for the 2nd year in a row and a Serbian not named Djokovic for the 1st time ever. It will be the 2nd time this year that both opponents will be making their maiden Masters 1000 final (following Dimitrov and Kyrgios at Cincinnati) and so with a guaranteed new Masters champion for the 3rd time this year (following Zverev and Dimitrov)!

I'd say Busta has been busted, run out of luck with Sock a big favorite..but with Rafa and Delpo's condition/attitude now I'm not so sure

so if Rafa and Delpo beg out and Sock wins..Sock gets in and Busta, and who on top of that, Isner?

or would it be Querry?

None of the players listed on the poll option are in the tournament now. Amazing!

Sorry (again), my bad.

Wouldn't mind any of the semfinalists winning it actually. Such a shame Bennetau couldn't at least make the final and especially win his first and probably only ATP title in front of his home crowd at the end of this career. What a miss!

again the famous dr. angel ruiz cotorro ?... the one formerly labeled as 'licensed physician for completion of doping control' ? :)
seems he knows how to treat imag'injuries...

No need to be sorry. 2017 has been quite a crazy year!

Sorry for Bennetau as well, but this could also be the last chance to win a M1000 title for either guy in the final. This could be the achievement of their lives.

1. Paris was always in doubt for Fed, nothing to see here.
2. Rafa's knees are just fine (he pulled out of Basel due to going deep in both his Asian events), form will be fine too and easy peasy to the semis.
3. Z pulled a Kyrgios last night and the Basel crowd started boing, an early exit in the cards?
4. Injured PCB?
5. Or he could lose to Dasco in his first match. Also, Thiem is a non-factor on these courts. Pouille is the likely one to make a deep run here if there's no Fed.
6. Hopefully!
7. Paris used to be super fast back in the day. So there's no normal slow pace to go back to. I'm guessing Basel like. Basel-Paris-WTF have tried to have similar court speeds the last few years to my knowledge.
