Let us look forward to this one as we know Berdych wont spoil the party!

Novak dominates the H2H but clearly Murray with the better recent form! Neither have looked great this week.

My prediction remains that Murray will take this but I still feel Novak will win the AO

Hope this isn't a jinx thread, although Murray's in a good position to win the match, up a set right now, but still.

I would prefer Berdych to Murray but given the h2h and the way Murray took the first set I think we will get the final we expected so no point wasting any more time on the semi

As 50/50 as it gets.

Going with Djokovic in 3, he'll swing more freely because he knows he should've lost today but Murray is too good to lose in straight sets to anyone at the moment.

I kinda feel Murray needs to win this - needs to send message to Nole and the world ....Then again I'm sure you could say the same about Nole...I just feel Murray needs this more strangely enough!

Neither guy has looked too great this week, but Murray should be the favorite here. He's looked a bit better than Novak this week. Murray in 3 or tight 2 is my prediction.

Fourth final for Andy here. Apparently a tournament record. Well done.

Is this only the second time Murray reaches 6 straight finals? If so, kudos to him. He looks to be in that stage of wanting to win every tournament he enters in. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic were all in that stage at one point. So I guess it's Murray's turn now.

For the first time in a long time, this one is a tough one to call. WTF has taught me to never underestimate Murray again, no matter the circumstances.

I think Murray is the more confident player at the moment and should pull through. A win here would extend his reign at no.1 for a while as he gains points, while Djokovic loses if he doesn't defend his title.

Based on what I saw, which admittedly was only bits and pieces of the two, Murray should win this one fairly easily. He probably won't because he doesn't like to do things the easy way, but I still expect him to win in two tight and long sets, something like 5 and 3 with lots of breaks of serve, finished in just under 2 and a half hours. I just feel there is simply nothing this version of Nole has that can hurt Murray. Andy is now the slightly better returner and server, Nole can't outgrind him anymore, and he surely can't blow him off the court - much better attacking players have tried and failed.

Having said that, I really have very little interest in watching these two yet again (especially with a must watch Aus Open Final looming), so I'll kindly make my way out of this thread before certain Nole fans get a hissy fit and just check the scores over the weekend. :) Good luck to both players!

Very 50/50, as close as it gets. I won't be surprised to see either win, weather Murray pulls it out of the bag again or if Djokovic pastes him.

He looked much better today so gonna go for Muzzlord in 2 tight or 3 sets.

My two least favorite players both in the final AGAIN, I think I am going to kill myself. :(
Too bad MILOS can't play both tournaments at the same time :D :D :D
Djokovic finding his inner Nadal 2016 Doha final spirit
If only his body would still allow him too. The explosivness on his shots has kind of gone away. Last year he hit 30 clean winners, against Murray he would be lucky to hit 10.

If you asked me yesterday i would have said Novak easily as Murray hasnt looked good all week but their respective Semis has maybe tilted the balance very very slightly back to Murray

Well based on what I have seen, I am amazed either player got to the finals.

It's all about clutch counter punching and grinding than attacking tennis that wins matches in Doha.

Murray should win this easily.

Verdasco should be ashamed of himself especially 6-4 in the second tiebreaker where Djokovic had no balls and wasn't going for his shots. That really p1$$ed me off.

Anyways I won't bother with the final and I only expect one outcome winner.

I agree with most of what you say apart from that Murray should win easily, based on what? he struggled against the likes of Melzer and Almagro this week.

A Murrovic final to start the year!

Hopefully one of many :D

Neither played has looked great, but I expect Murray to win

Murray extends his lead by 50 points at the least, regardless of outcome. Let's remember this was the point where everyone expected Murray to make a lot of ground on Djoker...Hope for a good final, both players look average at best though.

Regardless of the result,I feel this match is going to help Djokovic in preparation for AO.
Better to face Murray and see where the level of play and mental game are rather than avoid him until the last moment.
Kudos to Nole for not preserving the head to head.:D

Murray if it's windy, if not then probably Djokovic, but it's more 50/50. Neither of them is playing good at the moment.

Am I right in saying that Murray's run winning 4 reputable tournaments in 5 weeks is unprecedented? Nadal has had some dominant runs, but the tournaments were always more spaced. 2008 French Open, Queens, Wimby run for Nadal was compact. If Murray wins this match plus Auz Open that will be a nice run, but the 4 in 5 weeks plus WTF was at least the best end of year run? McEnroe won a lot in 1984, but some of those fields perhaps not the best. Murray had somewhat weak fields, but still two ATP 500s and two ATP 1000s in 5 weeks. Has anyone won IW, Miami, Barcelona, and Monte Carlo back to back? That's the closest compact period that comes to mind. Winning 4 of 5 in US Open hard court series would be a similar feat.

Didn't Djokovic have a a run like that in late 2015, when he steamrolled through Beijing, Shanghai, Paris and WTF?

I think it's good for Djokovic and Murray that they are having this match. It isn't a big tournament but it is close to the Australian Open so they can see where they stand against each other. Another AO final between them wouldn't be surprising one bit as they are far ahead of the rest so studying each other just before it is good.

It would be fair if Andy gives Novak a Christmas present tomorrow as an exchange to Novak giving Andy a birthday present in Rome last year. It is all about Melbourne though so if a loss makes Novak realize what he has to improve and fix to win the upcoming Slam then I wouldn't mind seeing Andy winning tomorrow.

Crazy not to watch this match. They've had only the one showdown at WTF since the French Open. Murray has not looked perfect this week, but has yet to lose a set. I'm not sure how he found the legs to dominate Djokovic at WTF, but that was a comprehensive beating. Djokovic is not putting the time needed into his game and he's not suddenly going to summon his best levels of 2015/2016 for one match. This match will confirm the Muzziah's position of dominance in two undramatic sets.

Well, yeah, that's what I think as well. So why would I want to watch that match, especially after the borefest this two guys put me through at WTF? I mean, that was at least worth something, the End year no. 1 and a couple of records for Nole, but what is this ATP 250 match to a neutral observer (who dislikes both players)? Besides, I can't watch tennis all day - unfortunately - so I'll rather try to see the Brisbane final or even semis which promise to be much more watchable.

Yes, but don't believe he ever played the extra ATP500 event. Murray added Vienna this year a new ATP500. The defunct Valencia was a 500 from 2014 and back. Vienna moved to the same week as Basel in 2016 after debuting in 2015 as ATP500 the week before.

The equivalent in 2014 and back would be the three you mention plus Valencia or Basel to make 4 of 5 weeks.

Well if you found WTF final uninteresting then best to move along.:oops: For me this match is very, very important as it will set the stage for the rest of 2017; is Murray for real? Does he have a chance to make the most complete resume of all time? Does winning this match make Murray the favorite for Auz? The field is weak, Murray is strong, with WTF and the year end number 1 under his belt Murray looking good for Auz, possibly IW, Monte Carlo, and then the French. If Djokovic does not show some resistance in this match, it seems likely that it will be Murray vs the field (Delpo) ongoing until Wimbledon. In my mind this is a very important match.o_O

Well, I didn't say WTF wasn't interesting, just boring to watch (tennis wise) and low quality. To be frank, if it wasn't that important I would have changed channels. But I do see where you are coming from and I somewhat agree with you, except that I have much lower expectations of Murray as I feel he can't last whole year long. He is bound to break sooner or later as he hasn't been winning dominantly, but rather just falling over the line which is a sure sign the fall is just around the corner.

This match helps Djokovic only if he wins. He doesn't want another finals' loss, and definitely doesn't want Murray having the mental edge heading into the AO. Nole needs to stop Andy's winning streak.

I agree. I think Murray needs to keep the momentum going to have the confidence to challenge Djokovic at the Australian open. I think if Djokovic wins he becomes the clear favourite once again.

WTF looked pretty dominating to me and Murray had every right now to play long after that 3.5 hour match on Saturday. Nothing boring to me about Djokovic becoming Murray's poodle. I guess you're not seeing the improvements in Murray's game clearly. I'm not sure I see the falling over the line anology unless you want to apply that to the Raonic WTF match.
