Lucic-Baroni/Keys v #2 Halep

Anyway, who will take out the title?

Keys looked good last week. Fully healed? I still have high hopes for that girl.

I'm going with Garbine. I don't put too much into her loss to Keys, when Maddie is firing she can take out anyone, so it wasn't a bad loss.

Vinci completely unravelled in those two tie-breaks. It's a shame, as the match was really close.

Let's see how is Ostapenko doing.

True enough! Though she does seem to be pretty darn good at them! :D

Ah ah ah! Yes, she is. But I'm not impressed at all with her level today. It's her first match after Wimbledon and on hardcourts after all those months on clay and grass, but she's not looking very sharp.

Ostapenko = worst attitude in tennis. Every ball she blows she's like, "I can't believe I waste my time on this stupid sport."

Yeah, not looking good right now. See if she pull another one out.

I saw Lepchenko Ostapenko 5-3 30-0 and moved to another tab. Came back to find that Jelena has broken back. At least this girl doesn't give up!

Ostapenko's 2nd serve looks like it's got a bit more kick than I remember. Can't tell if it's got more zip but that wouldn't have taken much. More work on it is good.

Breadstick win and two tiebreak losses, how frustrating.

Was it just her opponent that was better in important moments or is it evident that Ostapenko was partying in Riga too much? :D

Or a combo! Missed the 2nd set and most of 3rd but Lepchenko looked like she was playing solid last few games I saw. Better than in the 1st.

Ah ah ah! She was not feeling the ball (her return was not as consistently good as it usually is) and was way too erratic. She got so rattled with what was happening that she actually cried in one of the exchanges of the third set.

Has there been any medical updates to Kvitova's left hand? I'd like to know if she's still feeling pain or struggles if a match wears on.

Why did Kvitova lose so bad last week to CeCe Bellis who is not really in her caliber.....Kvitova just got Blown out in that match.... that was just so weird.....

Konjuh retired after losing the first to Flipkens, haven't seen a reason yet.

I was watching it and I couldn't tell what the problem was. The medical team came out and she was smiling throughout the exam. They offered to take her blood pressure but she waved it off and the next thing I know she says I give up, not going to happen.

What a messy game that Chenko-Penko match was - that wind plus the choppers hovering above the court for the entire length of the match is enough to make anyone lose it completely

Lepchenko went from hitting and moving like an 80-yr-old in the first set and a half, to really amping up her return of serve and it seemed to dazzle Ostapenko even further when she was already getting down on herself for letting the match get away from her in the second set.

She started off on fire then took too long a breather...Lepchenko pounced.

She'd better remember those tears and learn from them.

It was weird, it was like if I was going to throw a match, it would look sort of like that.

Yea, I was afraid that she might have injured that wrist again,,,,,but doesn't look like it,,,,,she is Blowing away Suarez Navarro right now at the Canadian open...
That's why I'd like to see a medical update. I wonder if something like that can be good but still have very bad days.

Yea and she only held once in that entire match....and Kvitova has one of the best serves in WTA and she holds serve most of the time Unlike most other women in WTA.............LOL

Not really,, it was torn or cut ligament in the wrist due to slashing injury from what I heard,,,. Once that is repaired and healed,, it is either back or never be back to 100 %. There will be some stiffness but it is really matter of ,,,,IF Wrist still has that free movement like before 100 % or NOT. Pain really is not a issue. It is really has to do with Range of motion and is it as good as it was before the slashing injury......in the wrist.

Was it the wrist too? I know all 5 fingers were cut badly.

Yea,, it was fingers mostly. so she is undergoing physical therapy to strengthen the fingers and her grip. She will either regain her full strength or it will never be the same,,,depends on how those ligaments in the fingers heal. But good new for Kvitova is it really should get back to somewhere close to 100 %. and Somewhere close is really all she needs,,,, because Tennis is mostly wrist and arm motion......fingers just have to hold on to the racket...........lol

Suarez Navarro is storming back in the second set. Petra can be such a hot and cold player. I hope she is not still healing from the knife attack.
I heard Commentator say she is serving the ball just as big as she had done in the past.......

Reason that Kvitova SUCK whenever she plays in North America is that Allergies of hers........ She said that whenever she comes to America,,,,,she can't breath right because her allerigies act up

I would never have thought about allergies!
