Djokovic in 2, and probably will not even be close. This is how the match will be-Del Potro will try to hit as hard as possible with his forehand, Djokovic will push everything and most likely Del Potro will make a lot of errors. I have no idea how Del Potro beat him in the Olympics, but no way he is going to do it on such a slow surface.

Novak defence is nowhere near as good as it once was... in fact, Novak has had to play far from aggressive than usual to win points ... delpo forehand will hit Novak off the court

Yet Djokovic beat him already twice this year. Maybe Del Potro will try to give a fight, but he can't win a whole match.

I haven't watched any of the Rome matches so far so I don't know how Djokovic or Del Potro look at this tournament but I'll go with Del Potro in three.

Delpo looking much better than their earlier encounters this year. He's got momentum coming off a great match with Nishikori. Delpo 2.0 has bigger serve and bigger forehand. Not slicing nearly as much with backhand now on clay. Delpo in 3. Nole in great form considering the clay debacle before Rome so this should be a great match.:p

I agree Nole's defense is really diminished. But Del Po has done nothing all year and has been an UE machine. Nole will definitely find a way to punish Del Po's BH.

Would love to see Del Po catch on fire and win Rome and RG!!! Chances of that happening are about 1%.

Del Potro was good against a half-decent Nishikori today but Djokovic's form was nothing less against Agut.

Clay favors Djokovic more, he should win this in 2 or 3 sets. Expect a high quality match!

This match will be nothing but Djokovic going to Del Potro's backhand. Djokovic won't even need to come to net. Just keep hitting to the Del Potro backhand until he floats one long... or coughs up a sitter... and then hit it into the open court.

I think Djokovic wins this in straight sets.

8 years ago, Djokovic and Del Potro also met in the quarter-finals of 2009 Rome with Djokovic winning in straight sets. Their only other clay encounter was in the 3rd round of 2011 RG with Del Potro managing to take 1 set. Can he continue to improve against Djokovic on clay and take 2 sets tomorrow?

At this stage, Djokovic is more likely to float one long or cough up a sitter. He's been trying to play more aggressive to avoid that. So I don't think he'll go back to being conservative.

JM Del GOATro in three...he was close on HCs twice after his long layoff. He will get his breaks with amor y paz's still weak second serving (barely 50% points won vs less aggressive opponents Bedene and RBA). The key will be defending his own serve a bit better...broken seven times in 35 service games vs Dimitrov, Edmund and Injurkori.

Tough one to call. I think Delpo has a good chance to beat Djokovic here. Still, not too confident to say Delpo will beat him with certainty. It is a 50-50 match. I have to pick one, so I'll pick Del Potro.

"Bogdan Obradovic Serbian Davis Cup team Coach said in the interview for Spain newspapers (which was translated and publish in Serbian newspapers as well) that Novak finally started to eat meat. He blamed his vegan diet and influence of Pepe for his bad form this year. He said that even little changes in tennis, like changing your racket can affect your game drastically and that Novak changed his whole routine and diet and that affected him badly. He also said that Novak was more meditating then practicing and that he is his own enemy, he added that he has nothing against meditation but that you also have to go to practice and hit the ball million times as well."

And will choke again. Djokovic is just winning this tournament, I don't see anyone in this draw who can stop him. Hope there will be a bit more competition in RG, otherwise Djokovic will easily take a second title there.

Yesterday was so good, the player imo that had the best play. But I guess its a 50% chance we will see something like that again today:eek:
