He's a clay stats king this year which bodes well for the grass. It was no mean feat by Zverev beating him in Madrid.

Cilic to shock everyone for a second time and win Wimbledon, no? The biggest problem is Federer of course, but Murray is not 100%, Djokovic in a slump, even the renewed Nadal's probably not a real contender on grass anymore, Raonic with his recurring injuries, Kyrgios now injured, Dimitrov always flaky...

He's so upside down so much that better not expect anything. I think Del Potro and Pouille to certain extend can cause a surprise there.

That's not as improbable as it may sound. Cilic has a good grass record, has won Queen's (2012), made 1 other final (2013) and had match points against Federer in their quarter-final at Wimbledon last year.

If not Federer Cilic would had reached the final

Yes indeed, maybe worth a little bet just in case... Just so you know, I put a little money on Cilic to win US Open 2014, too, after he showed great form in FO... At that point he was available with the odds @150.

The QF match between Kontinen/Peers and Kubot/Melo kind of decides the number 1 doubles ranking.

Kontinen is currently number 1 but if Melo reaches the final, he'll become number 1. So if Kontinen/Peers win their QF match thereby knocking out Kubot/Melo, he'll remain number 1.

Kontinen is not finnish

Kontinen/Peers haven't played well after AO, at least partly because their game is better suited to grass and fast hardcourt. I'm expecting them to lose but let's see.

Bendych right on cue DFs the break to Raonic. 5-3

Hmmm, contemplated changing to Rao in the league up to the very last minute, but figured he'd be enough out of form. But naively I underestimated Berdych's ability to Berdych.

Has Berdych moved from being a gatekeeper to the non-top-10 to a gatekeeper for the non-top-25?

I don't think he's that bad really. We know his choking behavior and the DF is classic Berd brain. To me he is is just too old to be a threat on clay. Once we get to grass he might be ok. Should be top 10 on hard courts.

Even Simon could destroy Berd on grass. I don't think he is a threat to the top 10 anymore. It's not 2010-2013 anymore.

@Zebrev @Meles How about A Zverers grass game? Do you know if he plays Halle or Queens? Last year he was beaten but took a set from Berdy.
RG and Wimbledon is the slams he has gone furthest.
Beat Fed at Halle to make final there and of course he returns. He'll be even more deadly on grass. Great first return and his slightly shakey serve game is plenty on grass.:p

Zverev will be a monster at Wimby '17! I'm predicting a semi final run to put him on the map. At the moment, there aren't many who I think could beat him on grass, except Federer of course.

He's not making WTF; just might be one of the 10 best hard court players.

Doubtful. It's his worst surface in terms of DR and match win % over the last year.

Fed, Rafa, Murray, Nole, Nishikori, Stan, Dimitrov, Goffin, Raonic, Cilic, Thiem ( ) Zverev, Kyrgios — and possibly Sock and Tsonga and Pouille. There, I just gave 13+3 who are currently better on HC and will have higher levels than him in the summer/fall HC swing:D (presuming they're healthy)

Pretty much. He still has that niche of "beats everyone below him but nobody above him" except now his level has dropped pretty badly.

Good matches coming up now. Djokovic v RBA, Wawrinka v Isner, followed by Nadal v Sock, Thiem v Querrey, Nishikori v Delpo. Great line up of matches.
