Zverev played well. Glad he's through. Isner is playing well so I expect a very tight match in the semis.

Nadal and Thiem next!!

Is it really inconceivable Zverez the younger will make the top ten sometime this season?

Good that he stepped up to the plate on this side of the draw along with Isner! SIR JOHN ISNER THAT IS.

Isner Dazzles On Serve To Break New Ground

John Isner
came through a fascinating serve-dominated quarter-final against Marin Cilic on Friday, when the fortunes and confidence levels of both players fluctuated, at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

Winning 69 per cent of his second serves, Isner struck 21 aces to edge past sixth seed Cilic 7-6(3), 2-6, 7-6(2) in two hours and 38 minutes for a place in the semi-finals.

The 6’10” Isner is the first American to reach the last four at the Foro Italico since Andy Roddick in 2008. He will now play fifth seed and 2014 semi-finalist Milos Raonic or #NextGenATP No. 16 seed Alexander Zverev on Saturday. Isner leads Raonic 3-1 in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series, but is 0-2 against 20-year-old Zverev.

Isner, 32, who has now hit a tournament-high 93 aces in four matches en route to the semi-finals, beat Cilic for the second successive time after winning 54 of his 79 (68%) first-service points and 18 of his 26 (69%) second-service points. His previous-best ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay-court result was a run to the 2015 Mutua Madrid Open quarter-finals (l. to Berdych).

Zverev Into First Masters 1000 SF

#NextGenATP star Alexander Zverev is through to his first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 semi-final at the age of 20. The German powered through the second set to defeat World No. 6 Milos Raonic 7-6(4), 6-1 on Friday in the quarter-finals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome.

Zverev - who leads the Emirates ATP Race to Milan, which determines the eight-man field at the inaugural Next Gen ATP Finals – will face John Isner for a place in the final at the Foro Italico. Zverev, 12 years Isner’s junior, leads their FedEx ATP Head2Head series 2-0. He is the first German through to the Rome semi-finals since Tommy Haas in 2002.

So annoyed that Zverev is gonna reach a M1000 final before Kyrgios, when all he did was beat Raomug on clay, whereas Nick straight setted Djoko on his fave surface and played Fed and lost due to ******** crowd

Zverev breaks. But I think that, based on past experience, we can all agree that it's far from over.

So it's either awesome Djokovic, adorable Del Potro, younger gen Thiem or NextGen Zverev. Rome, you don't disappoint. Finally some fresh air in 2017.

Die, Fedal terror, DIE!

And now jut for ****s and giggles, Thiem is getting either Djokovic or Delpo. Compare that to Anderson, Troicki, not so fabious Fog and Raonic on clay.

Well, when you love the sport, the sport gives you something back. Zverev's stronger dedication finally has its rewards.

Nah, this is just mostly luck drawing and beating players you're supposed to cream

You can't blame him for having a good draw, he's making the most of it and that's what counts. Plus, it's not like the draw always favors him, I still remember when he had to play against seeds #1 or #2 in his first round matches for like, 5 consecutive tournaments or something in the past. What I mean to say is that Zverev loves the sport more, he's more dedicated to it, so maybe it's not luck but fate the one that's giving him this good draw as a reward for his effort.

Surprise result but very happy for thiem! He was close in Madrid and deserves this breakthrough. He's a serious threat at French!

Good chance for Djoko to maybe break his slump and win another masters too. However, he's got a tough match against del Porto then of course thiem. Plenty of tennis to come!
