I wonder how far she will go
Wow nice pt from both
Keys is next
Oh wow keys been playing pretty good...
I like Coco's swagger. Makes me laugh. So dudely. You can tell she grew up around a lot of pro athletes.
Saf up 41 3rd set.
Come on Kuzzy. Dig deep. Get this game.
Damn Kuzzy, looking like Djokovic sliding with that DTL FH
Oh Kuzzy. I don't know if I can take it.
Cam Can someone clarify this for me?
Why do female Russian players' last names end with ova but not male players'? Are their last names connected to their gender?
Nara gets the break up 42 3rd set
WWWH membership on display. Poor thing. She must be exhaustd from yesterday.
I believe that women names end in kova as a gender determination
ov= son, ova= daughter. Is what I've heard anyway.
Lucie is such a pleasure to watch when she's playing well.
Still one of my favourite players on tour.
I smell a broke coming for kuzzy
Or not !! Nara up 52 is another seed fixing to fall ????
russian names without ova's
37 winners for Safarova. Not too shaby.
EDIT: Lucie breaks again to win the match. Yay!
Probably nara next
Saf just loves 3rd set matches this year !!
What a miss
Oh my ... NARA what where u thinking !!!
I know !!!
Wow another seed down ! /hug Kuzzy she just worn out me thinks from yesterday
I think her ranking will go up a bit from 116
Who will be number 1?
To be fair, she's only 5'1". Overheads are never going to be her strength.
She's shorter than LLD!
Edit: correction, announcer says 5" 1.5"
I was thinking it be Svit.. Now i feel that Mugs is a shoe in
Mugsy is the obvious choice, so guessing she will troll us all and it will end up being Halep after all.
I would laugh my ass off if Halep got number 1.
I'd enjoy it.
Imagine Halep ends up being #1 despite losing in the first round...
That would be crazy lol
Muguruza ain't losing to Rybarikova tho.
She will win in straight sets. She is in the zone ATM.
And how is her brother's name spelled? It's not just the 'ovas'.
Unfortunate loss for Kuznetsova but there was no real chance she was going to win the USO and become #1.
It'll be between Pliskova and Muguruza. Muguruza just one match away and Pliskova needs a final/title depending on others. I can't see Svitolina becoming #1. Don't think she'll suddenly make her first slam SF/Final or win the title.
She needs at least a SF to be #1 but would need Muguruza not to makes the QF and Pliskova not to make the final or win the title. Otherwise, if Svitolina makes the final then she can be #1 as long as Muguruza doesn't make the final/win the title and Pliskova doesn't win the title.
If Svitolina wins the title then she clinches #1 no matter what.
Yup. Lady's on a roll. No. 1 favorite for the crown and it's not even close.
The only one who's been capable of taking it to her lately is Maddy and I don't trust that girl to put 7 good matches together.
Keys ought to be able to take out Vesnina. Idk about Svitolina tho. She'll need to be on for that one.
As to 4R more generally, I hope to God we get Osaka-Ostapenko clash. I really want to see that one happen.
If Muguruza plays as well as she has been playing recently, she will beat Keys convincingly.
And I say that as someone who would be cheering for Maddy.
Garbine was good in Cincy too, but Maddy still had MPs against her. Still, yeah, Garbine will be the clear favorite. Maddy isn't zoned in; just playing well enough.
Pliskova, Ostapenko, Kvitova and Sharapova are all big chances. 3 of them have won slams before and the other is the #1. Ones to keep an eye on and never write off are; Safarova, Sloane, Keys, Makarova and Barty. One is a slam finalist, three are slam SFists and the other is having a stellar year.
Separate names with a comma.
