Wow, surprised at how first that match went. Was at work and headed home and assume I'd catch the end but was well finished by the time I got back.

So excited Madison took out the trash. Can't wait for the final between Keys and Stephens. Will be a great one and I'll be happy with either result!

Horrible. No need to call Coco trash. You always get on other posters for similar personal comments. Booo.

I assume your lame attempt at humor is because even you yourself can't justify calling another human being "trash"?
Oh nope, she's trash. Just can't be bothered justifying it too you cause you won't understand. :) in fact you'd probably like her for the reasons I dislike her!

Anyway, don't you have something better to do with your time instead of trying to bait me where possible.

It's the 3rd year in succession there will be 2 first time finalists at the US Open and the 1st All-American final since 2002 (the last year the finals were dominated by American men as well as women).

I understand hate. Which is what you are displaying quite clearly when you call someone trash without a justifiable explanation. What has Coco done? Has she harmed anyone? Whenever a poster here expresses unjustified hate towards the WTA, or any of your favorite players, you get your panties all in a wad. In the time I've spent reading your posts, you've cited Coco being a Trump supporter. Is that your definition of trash? If so, what's that say about you to respond to someone, in such a punk manner, based on their political views? Seriously, what's your problem?

I think both Keys and Sloane are equally determined and focused to win the final. Both want to establish themselves firmly with whoever gets the big win.

A year off for Sloane apparently has done her good. Got her to see she wants to be a player after all. Sloane has gone from the Don't Care, Sulky Sloane of a few years ago, though I knew she is a good player under it, to Serious Sloane.

Good style matchup with the defender vs the attacker. I believe it comes down to whoever has the bigger will to take it away.

Wow, 5 of keys' 6 matches were scheduled at night. granted, one of the 6 was a semi that was always going to be a night session, but I don't think I can recall anyone playing exclusively at night during the open, even Serena.
and all of sloanes matches were day matches, except her semi. Maybe this will be a factor during the final?

Do you mean first time slam finalist or first time USO slam finalist?

I feel for Venus. She was one of the most consistent players at the GS and it would've been deserving seeing her win after all these years on home soil. Nevertheless, it was a pleasure and truly remarkable seeing her play this year. But Sloane has been playing well and with a newfound confidence, which makes all of this sting less.

I must say I'm not the biggest Keys fan, as sometimes tactics seem foreign to her. But yesterday, she did give a masterclass in clean hitting.

All in all, I think it's a promissing final between two sub-25 players with contrasting styles, which is always refreshing.

Nice to see how many of us share this feeling. Sign of a deep respect of what Venus represents for tennis, as a woman and as an athlete. Her aggressive tennis got a bit lost in those last 2 games, she could have done better but her legs got tired and for sure Sloane had a role on that. I was really hoping for a breathtaking TB. It didn't happen, I guess that is good for my pulse rate!

Yep, that 2nd set was a reminder of the player she used to be. Aggressive, powerful... she just can't keep it up anymore. Still, when she does find it it's a pleasure to watch.

rofl, this aint hating someone because they like a different player or they like a different sports team or prefer chocolate over vanilla? voting for someone or defending someone who basically is a hateful, sexist, racist, incompetent pig who has incited hated crimes from the minute he decided to run for office and just turning a blind eye to everything is a huge reflection of character and defending someone like that is not the hill to die on. this bs about how "oh its just their political views" is such a flawed view

Go Madison

We will have a new grand slam champion
Keys has only 3 titles
Stephens has only 4 titles
So Muguruza's having 2 slams out of 4 is not something
taking into account the other lady with one slam out of one title

If the same players show up for the final that showed up for the semifinals, Keys will run away with this tournament. She just never took her foot off the gas and didn't give Coco any room to breath. I don't think Stephens, should Keys show up in that form, can hang with her... Still, very excited to see both of these ladies vying for their first GS title. Hopefully nerves won't make for a lame match.

Sidebar: Lindsey Davenport seems to have had a profound effect on Keys. Am I the only one noticing that she seems a different player. Hopefully, it's long term.
