Man, he is so good with short balls. He does to them what the big four do, rarely does he give the opponent another look at the point, whereas others are maybe a bit more hesitant.

F--t it, I'm a convert. On the Shapo train now. This kid has a seriously aesthetically pleasing game and great instinct to boot. And handling the big stage with a great sense of maturity.

Now if only he could lose that backwards cap...

lol. Reminds me when Hewitt came up with the backwards cap.

Jo turning it up a bit here, getting his forehand into play a bit more. BP...

Swinging serve out wide, followed by the huge forehand into the open court, lol. Great combo.

Damn, watching this match makes me bittersweet. I grew up watching the guys like Federer, Nadal, Tsonga, Nalbandian, Del Potro, Djokovic, Murray, Roddick, Gonzalez, etc play. Now all these young guys are emerging and will soon replace all that I've known in the tennis world, growing up.

I don't want to be drooling about Shaps all the time but damn, he's got so much going and a lot of ingenuity in his game.

Needs to work on return of serve and more consistency in ground game. He doesn't have a ceiling.

Hope he pulls this one out.

I love that style with the cap.. for him specifically. He should keep it until he grows out of it in a few years kind of like how Nadal stopped with plundering booty yaarrrrrgh.

Don't want to get to high so I will just say - excellent playing so far. Love the net rushing to the weak BH and more than anything, good awareness of when Tsonga is compromised.

obviously things that need to be worked on/cleaned up in general but i definitely think this kid has the right combo of talent and attitude, something i dont think we've seen in a while on the atp side.

El shapo's still a young guy who I hope will work on that return game. He can also hit his spots better on serve. I wonder if he can get a little stronger without losing much-
