Fed to beat Berdy in straight sets. On to the final against either Cilic or Querrey. Have a feeling it's going to be Cilic.

I picked Berdych in four sets over Nole and he has been playing superb (for him). The big guy is moving better than I've ever seen him on grass.

Still, if Fed maintains the form he showed against Raonic, he will win in straights. Birdy might sneak in one set. Berdych tends to deflate when he gets down a set or two, unlike Raonic (to his credit).

I think so too, but then again Marin just played a 5 setter. How will that affect him going into the SF? Querrey had a very easy day today, he'll be more rested than Cilic and he's definitely the underdog here.

As long as he's healthy, he should absolutely end this year number 1.
Imagine if Roger at the age of 36 is YE #1. Imagine further if he wins Wimbledon. For a 35/36 year old to win two majors in one year and end the year as #1 would be spectacular icing on his GOAT cake. It's mind blowing if it happens. Still a big "if" though.

Long way to go but he knows the opportunity's there. I have liked his form. He needs to keep it.

Would be a remarkable achievement for Fed, would be even cooler if we also get a Venus Wimbledon victory. Probably the oldest combined age at a major ever!!

I wouldn't be surprised if Berdych dumps his pants against Fed, at least no one will notice on this worn grass. He's been a Fed fanboy the past few years. He does like to spoil things though so I won't say Fed is guaranteed a win.

I'm still rooting for Querrey but I'd be happy for Fed if he wins. I'm definitely rooting for Venus though!
rooting for fed obviously. idk who else i would like to win if fed doesn't. i suppose querrey would be okay, although it would really be something else. venus ftw!

I'm a big Querrey fan and would love to see an American winner again. I also think Querrey and Muller's run here is great for the game. While I am a huge fan of Djokovic and admire the other members of the big four, I wish tennis fans in general recognized more than just those players, and I think runs like this are fun and makes people realize just how good some of these other guys are too.

Fed will end the year with 3 slams.

ahh okay i see. american too, but i never put too much emphasis on rooting for players simply b/c of nationality and all that. i do agree that tennis should be more than just the big 4 ofc.

Obviously whoever gets to the final is playing really well and capable of winning. Past trends are overturned in tennis all the time: Delpo USO 2009, Cilic USO 2014, and Stan's 3 Majors are prime examples. Querrey, Cilic or Berdych all very well could win Wimbledon.

The difference between even Federer and those guys when they're playing their best tennis is far less than their achievements would suggest.

No guarantees for Nadal. Will be interested to see his form and if the clay season yet again took too much out of him for the second half.
nadal has played too much this year already.. i have a feeling he will slow it down the rest of the year..

Berdych will make this a match. If Roger pulls through, it'll give him some good practice against someone that hits similarly to Cilic.

Of course, Federer is of course amazing but the margins are so small!

Nationality isn't everything to me, Novak is my favorite player after all, but it still factors into my rooting habits. Even if you don't root for them because their American, a US winner would help the popularity here most likely.

i'm not a big fan of sam querry. but, i would love to see another us men's slam champ to at least give the upcoming american kids some hope.

Golden Eagle won't be stopped now. Though I expect Berdych to be motivated, he'll fancy his chances against Cilic or Querrey.

Can anyone tell me when Wimbledon will decide and release Friday's schedule of play?

I need to fly somewhere on Friday and want to make sure I book a time that doesn't overlap with the match.

Thx!

Fed in 3. Hope it's Berdych though, would be good to have someone different in the final rather than the guy with more slam finals and Wimbledon finals than anyone else. I'm sure Roger would agree...

He is more than likely going to be on second. So around 4pm local time.

I think I'd be more scared if this was a best of three set match. Crazy eyed zoning Bird-dog is scary, but Fed's had his number in their past several meetings.

I had momentarily forgotten about fed's phenomenal record in wimby SFs before last year's injury affected wimby.

10 matches, 30 sets won, 1 set lost ( djokovic in 12)

beat roddick, grosjean, hewitt, bjorkman, gasquet, safin, haas, djokovic, raonic, murray in those 10 semis.

ok, I declare berdman as toast ! :D

Thank you. Is this because they usually put the "star" match later in the day?

Do you know when we'll know for a fact? Will it be tomorrow evening?

The fact that Federer is the only member of the big four remaining, they would want to put him on prime time, so more people will watch. Also, in general his half of the draw has been going on second. I would very surprised if they put the biggest player left by a massive margin on first.

The schedule will be out tomorrow afternoon.

Fed is just going to zero in on the prize now no matter what. He's in the semi finals against Berdy. He'll get either Cilic or Querrey in the final. Like... He just isn't going to let this slip away. #19 overall. #8 Wimby title. It's happening.

It's hard to imagine Federer losing here after coming this far. He is the man of the late stages of the slam and will be extra motivated now that he is in the semifinal. Federer in 3, maybe 4. Voted Fed in 3.
He only very rarely goes out to anyone but the best in the later stages of a slam. Most of his losses at the SF or F have been against peak Nadal or Djokovic and even then have normally been close. I know Cilic beat him at the USO a couple of years ago, but he's playing better now and Cilic was absolutely on fire in that tournament. He had the wind of the gods behind him that week.

Federer stepped up his level again in his straight set win over Raonic, and I expect him to be zoning in God Mode for the rest of the tournament. I cannot see him losing from this point, his variety and momentum will see him through.
I don't know if I can tell myself that it's going to happen tbh. One match at a time. Berdy is given a rough time on here - he's a top player who can beat anyone on his day.
Cilic has troubled Federer greatly before, including here.

I've picked Berdy in 4. Fed's not AO Fed, and last time the two met, Berdych had match point.

Also, I don't know why but Berdych is one of the very very few guys on tour that can really read Fed's serve really well.

I hope for the opposite of course.

I was more worried about Dmitrov . Berdych does not worry me at all. If it is Querrey , it will be a blow out final. Cilic can make it tough for Fed.

It is Fed's major to lose . He has 2 days to digest that there is no Novak to stop him unlike 2014 USO where he didn't have the time to even react to Novak's loss

Damn, huge opportunity for Fed. Wouldn't be surprised if Querrey took out Cilic either.

Fed in three, possibly four sets. Similar scenario to USO 2014, think he won't let this one fall out of his grasp.
There's a very old Clay Death thread over at other forum about the quest for 100 titles and 20 Slams. It might actually happen.

Yeah, I've seen it. Naturally, I disregarded it as rubbish. But with Fed's biggest contemporaries struggling with injury and form, the door has really opened that much more for him. What a strange past year or so.
