He's fine for his length but compared to where he was ranked (#4-7) he was a bad mover and that's where he usually got beaten when playing the big guys. He has the big groundstrokes but players like Djokovic make him run from side to side and he just can't handle that

With ATP 500 being mandatory, it is difficult to win one when top players like one of the Big 4 enter.
Outside them Nishikori has 6 and Ferrer has 10.
Bigger issue for most is that each B4 pretty much owns or is favourite for majority of the tournaments they enter.

Dubai, Barcelona, Halle, Queens, Basel and Beijing are almost always won by them. That's 6 out of 13 normally crossed out for anyone else.
Not many chances per year to win one.

Klizan can be a dangerous player when playing well, But certainly L. Mayer winning Hamburg as lucky loser definitely a big surprise!
