Cilic is a considerably better player than Anderson.

Whoa this took a u turn as usual. Never did say anderson would have won 2 majors or he is an ATG. He is playing the best tennis of his career and he is no push over. We shall see today against Federer where his game is at. Rooting for him to pull the upset. He is looking confident right now and federer stated anderson is dangerous.

Routine in the end but it could have gotten ugly at 4-4.

Hopefully Djokovic can play a little bit better (compared to today) during the weekend when there is no margin for error. Anderson is looking strong while Federer can also improve his own form by then.

Why is everyone from next gen so mentally weak? We have not seen a mentally strong player so far out of any youngster or even bellow 25 age player, why?
It's got to have something to do with how the top guys have been so ruthless in keeping everyone else down. Success gives you confidence, but if the same top guys keep winning the big events, it just keeps the young guys under the cosh.

All started with Fed and Nadal IMO. Yes Djokovic & Murray broke through, but they were/are supremely talented, and even so I think it took them longer to really get going than it would have done other, I think.

And once there were 3/4 of them ... What chance did the other guys really have?

I thought Street was different though in that he showed some great resolve in his MS wins, but am starting to wonder ...

not what the topic was about.
it was about career wise, prime level wise - that's what is relevant when talking about slam finals made.

Anderson probably peaking right now and might even be betterer than 2014 US Open Cilic.

Djokovic is a beast and all, but not sure how much of that was him winning it, and how much of it was zverev just fluffing out yet again.

Neck and neck 1st set, had a chance to break djokovic, then "poof". Gawn.

Djokovic's shots all seemed to have more depth, and to go through the court more, than zverev's. Zverev seems to hit alot of shots that don't go deep even when he has plenty of time to hit a balanced shot however he wants. I like the kid, and hope he figures it out. I think he needs to sharpen his serve, stand a little closer to the baseline, and hit through the ball more. Do something effective with neutral balls, rather than just roll them back into play in the pattern of the rally.

His volleys still suck, but he is coming in a million times more than he used to, and starting to stick some. Sometimes you have to go back before you go forward, so hopefully he keeps doing it, gets the repititions under pressure, and refines his attacking into something serviceable.

Sasha was injured. he should have taken this week off and rest to get ready for Aussie open. this is psychologically not good for him , but he is ready to destroy Novak in 2019

No.
I like Zverev, and really want him to do well, but that is just a cop out.
He would have lost to djokovic in that match even if he was fully fit. He needs to sharpen his game, he doesn't seem to understand what his weaknesses are, or why he is losing, because he just keeps going out and doing the same thing over and over

edit: describes my own tennis actually, I should take my own advice LOL

is this Bernard Tomic ? had no idea you were in the forum. what is your goal for next year ?

Just because he beat Fraud lol.:sneaky: That's a good gif for 2004 Olympics of course.:D

it was the way he played in his last 3 matches - vs berdych, federer and nishikori.
But of course you wouldn't know since you started watching tennis in 2015.

and of course you don't know much about 2004 Oly. . both fed and berdych played below par, but berdych just managed to edge it.

LFMAO

Another thumping by the big 3 and reality check for Zverev. He should stick with Nextgen tournament, not the real YE Finals.

yes, surprising isn't it - what actually following/watching matches/tennis before 2015 can tell you.
Highest level of tennis right there. Even looking at ballboys, you wonder how they would have done in 2003-2007 slams.

yes, base your judgement of an era on 1 match and your dislike of players without even watching much tennis in that era.
Great job...

Here is a clue , 2003-2007 = strong era and >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> your so called BS Diamond age.

you should stop talking about stuff you have little clue about unless you want to make a laughing stock of yourself.

And yet the teenage Berdych, a slender naïve blond-haired teenage boy deeply traumatized by the political turmoil in his backyard, was ready to dispatch the spoiled high-maintenance private academy diva pretenders that in 2004 already! So much for the 2003-2007!

Lets talk about the diamond age where top 10 guy and good on HC guy gets 0 and 1 by freakin' Kevin Anderson.

or where that so called pretender at 37 years of age still ROFLStomps on your golden boy Thiem.

Fraudulent court conditions. Latest speed index confirms things are not slowerer this year.
