2018 ATP Sudden Death League: Dubai

And like expected, today was a massacre.

26 out, 11 left.
I tried to play the odds. It was either Krajinovic or Dzumhur and I thought Damir had a better chance, seeing as Krajinovic has been pretty bad recently. Picked the wrong horse.

Good luck to you and all remaining in the tourney!

Any idea what the hell happened to Dzumhur? 6-1, 6-1 to Donskoy, I just didn't use him because I thought he might be one of the finalists

Didn't get to see the match, but no news sites report injury, and I've heard no talk on the topic in my circles. Very well just might be an off day/ an on day for Donskoy. After all, this is the guy that beat Federer last year in this tournament.

It was tough as hell today, I really thought that the most secure pick was RBA, and he won in 3 sets..

I watched a part of Donskoy's match and he was in-form today.

Tomorrow is not going to be any easier.

goddamnIT missed R2

am too pregnant and forgetful to keep up with SDL atm

Congratulations!

Like Serena Williams, you won the Australian Open pregnant :D

@underground the underdog for tomorrow's match between Krajinovic and Donskoy is the Russian.

I'm extremely tempted of doing what you did with Seppi and Jarry the last couple of weeks

It seems that almost all the people left are going with Krajinovic so..

Cuevas had wobbly results and I saw some highlights of Jarry’s R2 match and thought his aggressive play might push him through. Just had a random hunch that day.

I was pretty sure on Seppi when I made that pick in Rotterdam though. He was priced at 2.30 I think so he wasn’t that much of an underdog either.

Almost all the matches could go either way. I have Agut left. So I am playing safe.

I thought that Seppi was going to win too because I thought that it was a terrible matchup for Medvedev because of how inconsistent he is. Sadly for me I didn't take that risk after Berdych decided to give a W.O. to Goffin.

Speaking about this tournament, Krajinovic lost a set 6-0 against Fabbiano in the first round and today for a moment he was in trouble against Baghdatis. But, at the end of the match, he was pretty good.

On the other hand, Donskoy won his 2 matches without a single doubt, and last year in this same tournament he won a match that 99% of the people that watch tennis thought that he was going to lose in straights sets...

The H2H is 1-0 to Krajinovic, but they played 8 years ago, and Krajinovic won in 3 after losing the first set.

I just want to say it is so strange that Filip Krajinovic finished 2017 at #34, at the conclusion of a year where he played in a total of SEVEN tour-level (250+) matches. Didn't qualify for a single Grand Slam. Didn't even reach the finals of qualifying at any of the Slams!

But I'm sticking with my Krajinovic pick, after a lot of painful deliberation. Good luck to all in tomorrow's minefield...

Very strange but that's what a Masters final as a qualifier gets you (625 points).

QF: Tsitsipas

BU: Donskoy

Going to change this pick since Coric is still not good enough to even make it to the final of a 500 event. Now I have to "save" Jaziri/Tsitsipas if I want to have at least a 1% chance of winning the title.

QF: Donskoy

BU: Pouille

Hard to imagine RBA losing to an ailing Jaziri, and it's a coin flip who might win the title, so:
S: RBA

But nothing surprises me any more as ATP results are becoming more and more like WTA results.

I already picked RBA and Pouille so my choices are Jaziri or Krajinovic. Jaziri isn't winning.

SF Krajinovic I guess. And then if he wins I'm out of choices for the final.

Always tough to know whether to go for an unlikely win, or more likely points with no chance at a win.

Good luck tomorrow @Beacon Hill
Thanks very much. Coin flip I think. What a horrible way for Jaziri to lose. He was going to lose anyway, but tough should have won that last game. Line umpires need to replaced with electronic calls. It's too tough a job, and it's now completely unnecessary to have them.
