Welcome to the 9th official overall event and 1st Masters event of the 2018 ATP Sudden Death League season:

BNP Paribas Open
Indian Wells, USA
Outdoor Hardcourt
8 - 18 March, 2018

Please read this post carefully. Indian Wells and Miami have larger draws and follow a different timeline and pick structure to all other Masters events.

RULES (Indian Wells & Miami Masters):

1. You pick one player who you think is going to win. It's a knock out-system: if the player you picked wins, you're through to the next round. If he loses, you're out.

2. You can pick a player only ONCE. Obviously it's important to make smart choices in order to get far. If you have no picks remaining, you're eliminated from the competition.

3. You can't pick a player from a match that has started already.

4. You cannot advance to the next round via a walkover since it is hard to know exactly when someone announced they were pulling out HOWEVER this rule does not apply once you reach the semifinals.

5. Since you can no longer win a match by a walkover it is highly advised that you make a back-up pick to your main pick - when listing your picks make sure you specify which is your back-up.

6. In the semi-finals, you are still encouraged to make a back-up pick should you have more than 1 pick remaining. If your pick receives a W/O (i.e. opponent withdraws), then you advance to the Final.

7. If the player you picked retires during the match, you're out. If he retires before the match, your back-up pick will be used.

8. If the opponent of the person you picked withdraws and is replaced by a lucky loser your original pick will stand unless you specifically change it. Usual caveat applies - inform me of any specific pick changes or conditions you would like to make in case of withdrawals, etc.

9. NEVER edit your pick. If you want to change your pick, please quote your old pick and choose a new player. Edited posts will not be taken into consideration.

RANKINGS & RACE SCENARIOS (Coming Soon):

Rankings and Race to London tabs can be viewed HERE (Rankings) and HERE(Race).

There is currently a 3-Way Battle for #1 on at Indian Wells, but if we extend our horizon slightly, there is actually a 9-Way Battle for #1 across Indian Wells AND Miami heading into the European Clay Season. Scenarios are summarised in the two pictures below:

Looks like there are no men's matches today. Can't even see a Qualifying Draw as of yet. "It's a digrace, it's an scandal, its a outrage".

Who's this Brandon Nakashima kid that Pospisil is playing? Does he even have an ATP ranking?
There's another age 16 American WC Tristan Boyer playing Bemelmans today. He hasn't earned a rankings point yet in Futures tournaments entered (13-10 in qualies/1R matches since 2016). ITF shows him at #7 in the "Road To Chengdu" world junior championship.

Nakashima won five matches in the IW pre-qualifier last year. I don't see any rankings points for that. He is #91 in the same "Road To Chengdu."

Weird. What do they base these WCs on?
