R1: Mektic/Peya

Yeah, may as well do that now since I'm late with the thread.

Pouille is on a 4 losing streaks coming to Madrid and now 5th losing streak. Dzhumhur on 6 losing streaks.
Just like Mladenovic and Bouchard at AO, only one can break the streaks at the same tournament. Seems like Dzumhur got it this time as Benito can't play in clay.

Well, I hope the streak continues for the rest of the year.:p

Have a safe journey, folks. Adios!

I was wondering why so many picked Carballes Baena, he didn't seem to be a safe pick at all. Kukushkin won in straight sets against Mahut and Troicki in the qualifying rounds so I assumed that he was going to be a tough opponent for someone like Carballes Baena.

Maybe many picked the spanish player because Kukushkin was having a horrible season until the qualifying rounds of Madrid.

This was my brief reasoning - and the fact that the Spanish player had decent momentum on the surface. Didn't think it through and now I pay the price for failing to defend a Final.

This is a tough day 1, I wasn't sure with Raonic at all because I didn't know if he was fit enough after the injury that he had in Monte Carlo last month. He was ok, and so far he is the only player that beat someone from the qualy so far

Diego had lost 47 consecutive matches, including an opening round loss in a 4.5 tournament in Kansas.
But he wins after I pick his opponent in SDL.
