The winter is coming.Mirka looking really fabulous, looks like she's lost some more weight.
I wouldn't mind #100 in Paris.I am greedy.
I prefer a WTF #100 than a Paris-Bercy #100, but I know I can’t be so demanding.
It doesn’t matter, keep on singing 99 luftbaloons in German with me.Such lovely words from Rog.
None of which I understand.

He has always been emotional. I'd like to think he's particularly more appreciative, and therefore emotional, about whatever time he has left in the sport. I've always been touched by the poem 'To An Athlete Dying Young.' Fed has to decide how much of his decline he is willing to exhibit. It can't be an easy realization, and wins like this, in his hometown, are understandably bittersweet.I guess no win can be taken for granted anymore. I get it.
Do we think he'll play?I wouldn't mind #100 in Paris.
He will play and win. And then he'll win the WTF and end the year at no 1 because Nadal and Djokovic are gonna lose early in both.Do we think he'll play?
I wouldn't mind as I've just paid for a month of tennistv.

Thank you for reminding me of Uniqlo.Mirka decked out in the Uniqlo jacket.

Are you returning from an exile? Is this the first title in the Uniqlo era??
edit: I was going to post one more, but I noticed I have 1,999 messages. So, I'm going to leave it there for a while in homage to his goat-ness.
I did the same And, I'm loving it! No incessant jabbering during points....Do we think he'll play?

Do you have a time machine dialed back to 2008 or ‘09? Nadal won’t be a factor but Roger’s not beating Novak in his current form.He will play and win. And then he'll win the WTF and end the year at no 1 because Nadal and Djokovic are gonna lose early in both.
It would be a perfect moment to announce retirement at his home tournament.

I always like Fed's chances better when he is battle-tested.
Don't know about you guys but when I was playing seriously, I often felt like my best tennis was played while fatigued and against the odds.
I'd be more worried about this match if his road here had been easy.
Wrong again! Looks like he’s planning on playing!I expect he withdraws from Paris and will do so in his post-match presser.
Ehh that’s almost the opposite of demanding. If he gets the Paris #100 it means he can still win the WTF afterwards but you prefer him to not win a m1000 title just so the hundredth title can be at the WTF.. i have to disagree. Ending the season with a winning streak of 3 tournaments would be amazing (now that’s demanding)I am greedy.

Was their any hints that this was a problem and what it stemmed from?Well, my good feelings were justified.
I also think that if Fed is now willing to reveal that his hand had been bothering him all year...that it's no longer bothering him.

I also have a feeling that it could have been one of those stupid self-inflicted injuries. I thought the same (and still do) about his post-AO knee injury. I don't know precisely what happened but an athlete of his level does not 'slip while giving his daughter a bath'.
Fed has always been an emotional, temperamental player. I think there is a lot of frustration and anger behind the scenes that we don't get to see, and I think sometimes that anger boils over and he hurts himself.
I broke 2 bones in 2015...a foot and then a hand. Both were self-inflicted, kicking and punching things out of frustration with my lot in life. And I cooked up equally stupid stories to explain them away.
Yes, I'm sure he hurts himself. /sarcasm.
I don't disbelieve it, but I'm open to alternative suggestions. Anyone who has kids knows things happen. He only got surgery bc he's an athlete, it's not like he couldn't walk.Do you really buy that one of the best athletes to ever walk the earth required knee surgery from a child-bathing accident?
The post-AO knee thing has another explanation that he doesn't want the world to know. There are other possible explanations, one of my more charitable ones was that he went out to train immediately after the loss and pushed himself too hard.
I just don't believe the "I slipped while bathing my kid and required surgery," not for a second. It sounded like total BS at the time and we know there is always more to the story.

At the time and still I think it was an injury related to wear and tear because he's old and he was too proud to admit it.I'm skeptical about the bath tub thing too, but the last thing I think is that he goes around punching walls and breaking his hand or anything like that. It doesn't mesh with his personality to me. Not that there's any way to know for sure based on anything concrete, but he doesn't seem the raging anger type. He's too Swiss for that.

I do NOT for a second believe he walks around punching/kicking walls. Can you imagine Mirka putting up with that behavior?
Mirka is a tough lady so... kinda? As in, she won't tolerate it but she can handle it.At the time and still I think it was an injury related to wear and tear because he's old and he was too proud to admit it.
