Tseng, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 188 in the world, is set to make his debut at Melbourne Park.

Tseng enjoyed a successful junior career and he started making his first notable results as a pro toward the end of the 2021 season.

In his last two tournaments played in 2021, Tseng ended runner-up at the Maia Challenger and won it all at the Maia Challenger 2.

The Australian Open organizers recognized Tseng's good end to the season and awarded him a wild card for the first Grand Slam of the season.

Tseng joins Andy Murray as an Australian Open wild card
Murray, a five-time Australian Open runner-up, also received a wild card into the Australian Open.
“I’m really excited to be back playing at the Australian Open and grateful to Craig and the team for the opportunity," Murray said in a statement. "I’ve had some great times in Australia playing in front of the amazing crowds and I can’t wait to step back out on court at Melbourne Park.”

Murray missed this year's Australian Open because of a positive COVID-19 tets and he is hoping to avoid the same fate this January.

"It’s a concern with the amount of cases there are back home just now. Obviously I want to try and stay safe. When I get home I will do all my physical training and stuff at home in my house. I am probably not going to go to the National Tennis Centre," Murray added.

Last week, Murray said he felt he deserved to receive an Australian Open wild card.

"I kind of feel like I maybe deserve to have an Australian Open, but I never got it done in the big matches there,” Murray said. “Got close and was in good position a couple of times, but couldn’t convert it so that’s something I obviously have to deal with. But my memories from Australia, in terms of how I feel about the place, I love it there.”

so ask yourself this question, did he deserve the wildcard ? i say no. he should have been into qualifying rounds. but not main draw. he's taking a spot from legit top 150 player who really needs the 1st round spot
