2018 Indian Wells Masters - More than a mere M1000

does he have fans?
Yes, he has fans. The whole country of Bulgaria was there when he won the Sofia Open. And then there was the little matter of that WTFinals win that bumped him up to #3 in the world.

I've seen Verdasco play when everyone nicknamed him Tabasco, and I've seen him play badly enough for a stretch to be nicknamed Fiasco. Anybody can be a head case, anybody can have a bad day.

I was shocked at how this one got away from Dimitrov quick. He made about three bad shot choices or UEs, and made them in quick succession, and there went the match because they were at 4-3. That doesn't make him a bad player.

No worse than you, anyway.

Don't think Dimitrov can play for crap anymore on slower surfaces. There are select few occasions in the year where he can shine a bit and turn into a contender, wouldn't expect much from him until the grass season.

Courier is wildly criticizing the flaw in Dimi's service motion and spends 3 minutes explaining why it's so bad. The trashes Dimi's coach for allowing the glitch in his serve.
What was the flaw
Yep Beatlefan, can you resume Courier's words please?
I have already said here that Dimi's serve is to be fixed. It is not fluid. The beginning swinging motion in kind of not natural Maybe Dimi could look for a Jarry's kind of motion, which is very efficient. And if your serve is less that completely confident, your whole game will suffer.

I think Dimitrov serve is noticably flawed, but it's hard to put the finger on it.

His racket is moving in a weird direction prior during his trophy position, and it seems to actually go on a completely different trajectory during leg drive. His racket is to his right for most of the preparation. This can is good if you use that extra room to accelerate your racket behind you, but for Dimitrov it's just extra movement and instability.

Also, upper arm pointing downwards compared to the shoulders. I keep banging on about this, but this is the main technical thing that's different from Federer

Lastly, for some reason I always get the idea that Dimitrov's grip is off, but I don't really believe it.

What was all this fighting talk from Grigor before IW? Not really surprised really; he’s never been past the 3rd round in 6-7 attempts in IW, so clearly his game is not suitable to the conditions. At least Murray’s got to one final in IW in his career so far at IW.

Red Nick let's face it. Dimi's service motion is a mess. I agree with your points. And to think that someone is comparing Dimitrov's serve to Federer's:eek:.

From trophy position onwards it looks more like a spastic Djokovic serve than a Federer serve

Rublev Tiafoe Khachanov all sniped

Poor Meles

NextGen playing NextGen for the most part, so not a problem.;) Plenty of horses in the draw.

Bendy taking out Chung and Thiem would be a bitterer pill to swallow, but a distinct possibility:
20/2017 R16 Lyon Clay Tomas Berdych Hyeon Chung 6-3 7-5 1.53 - 2.37
13/2015 R64 Miami Masters Hard Tomas Berdych Hyeon Chung 6-3 6-4 1.05 - 15.00

Bendy narrowly favored. Worthy of match thread given the thundering thighs.

Really tough to discuss some details but if more people see the same thing, there's a chance there is something there.

To me, there might really be something with the grip. Noticed some index finger action that looked excessive, but then I wadls looking for something, anything.

saw on Twitter that Kei is out, being replaced by Bemelmans.

Weird to have a Quali placed straight into the 2nd round

先週のメキシコから風邪が治らなくて今週の試合は残念ながら断念することにしました。
好きな大会のひとつなので出れないのは悔しいですが早く治して次のマイアミに備えたいと思います。

Translation:
I regret to abandon this week 's bout because my cold has not recovered from Mexico last week.
It is a regret that I can not take out because it is one of my favorite tournaments but I hope to cure it soon to prepare for the next Miami.

Sela takes first set 6-4 against the new British No1. Kyle no doubt a bit rusty after being sidelined through injury.
Annoyingly both in identical Nike outfits; they could at least have different caps.

Djokovic doesn't have his white elbow sleeve anymore. I think that is a good sign for Djokovic.
