Milos edges the H2H slightly at 2-1, all meetings on a hard-court. Big man tennis, the serve/forehand combinations will be plentiful.

A bit surprised to see Milos has made the final four here really, haven't seen anything of him this week though. It's been so long since I've seen the guy play, looking forward to it really...

Second on court, scheduled after Fed/Coric....

Raonic not even playing his best tennis, with a good chance to make the final...
The courts do suit him admittedly, either way winner of this match loses to Fed.

H2H is 2-1 to Raonic with all 3 meetings on hardcourts, 2 on outdoor, 1 on indoor. Del Potro won their indoor meeting*, Raonic won both outdoor ones including their last meeting at 2017 Delray Beach (straight sets).

*Edit: The ATP H2H stats record Tokyo as an indoor event but it is actually an outdoor event so, in reality, their 3 meetings have all been on outdoor hardcourts.

It's a limited sample but I've seen a few of their matches and I think it's not a good match-up for Delpo, too much pressure on his BH. Raonic may be not the most natural volleyer but he's commited to coming in, that coupled with his excellent serve-FH punch means Delpo has to return deep and come up with passing shots which is not a good proposition for him given that he doesn't like to come over his BH for obvious reasons.

That said, Milos is clearly not in his optimal playing shape and it's a small miracle he got as far as he did (well maybe not given the current state of the tour). Delpo on other hand while visibly worn from all the tennis he recently played is still in excellent form so hard to look past him in this one, I think he'll get the job done, maybe even in straights.

Also, I can observe that Delpo and other big guys these days tend to stand a ft or more when returning 1st serves, and Milos can serve and volley with his elite serves (especially his 120+ mph heavy "kick" serve out wide on ad court) to exploit this, and you do not have to be a natural volleyer to putaway volleys when your opponents have been driven way off the court. Besides, his inside-out forehands are capable of creating big 4 calibre angle (you must give Moya credit for this), which would pressure Delpo BH a lot.

i will not be making fun out of Raonič like i did sometimes. he is a nice guy, its not his fault his game is ultra boring (basically it is but this style suits him)

As bad as the bottom half as been at IW this match is actually an excellent one on paper. Has Raonic returned so quickly?

As Roger said in his post-match interview, "I hope this match takes three hours."
Did he actually say that just now?

I hate to be a handwringerer in the extreme for a moment, but do you think he's tired? Feeling it a bit?
I could be interpreting it wrong but that sounds a bit like he's not 100% confident about the final.

Ivaniševič - the legend. this is what i miss in todays game :D

Goran being on his team is the only thing that would make a ronic win today seem less depressing. Always liked ivanisevic - he wore his heart on his sleeve for good or bad

guys..i feel human today - we all bash on Raonic, how boring is and all that **** but i feel bad for him somehow. I am starting to like him, we must give him a chance. show some compassion. he is a nice guy. but i am still cheering for my big boy - Potro
