DK can be proud of her efforts too. The only set she lost in the last 2 weeks was to a resurgent Venus Williams. Beat her in a thriller, and dispatched of Kerber, Wozniacki and Stephens with ease as well.

I find her style interesting, and quite like her little jumping cross-court BH. It reminds me a little of Florian Mayer's on the men's side.

Well done Naomi Osaka! Great tournament.
Sad that Kasatkina couldn't do more, gassed from the Venus match, bit overawed? As said Osaka didn't give her much room today and was cool closing it.
Kasatkina will hurt, learn from this and come back stronger..

Look forward to all these girls matches in the future..

Kasatkina was a shadow of herself in that final...I think the intensity and length of her 1/2 took a toll on her..

Osaka demolished halep in barely an hour.

Dasha needed 2 hours 48' vs Auntie V.

The queen is dead ( Sugarpova ), long live the queens !

Safin winning at the AO? Most underwhelming celebration ever.
More like the most badass celebration ever. Osaka looks bored on court and in interviews while Safin was the exact opposite. I like her playing style but as a person she's so dull - Pliskova has some charisma compared to her.

They both knocked out just about every big name in women's tennis.

That itself is proof of their consistency. So often in the ATP players fail to back up a big win and reach the final at least.

When will a #NextGen star beat Nadal/Federer/Cilic/DelPo in succession?

I really feel she could be a multiple slam champion but it's all about consistency and wanting it.
True enough. I've argued for years that the reason there's more inconsistency among the young on both tours is that they're all tough outs now. That and the aging of the game, meaning they need to be bigger and stronger to settle in now - more toward mid 20's. I think we all need to have more patience with the youngsters.

Well some of those players still have game. It's hard to compare it to the men's game.

Excellent match by Osaka. I recall she used to make lots of UFE (with emphasis on the word unforced) and now it seems she's taming her power and unleashing it only when it's appropriate (a thing Ostapenko could learn to do). She keeps her groundstrokes deep and changes direction quite often to keep her opponents at bay and unleash her power with some margin for error.

On the other hand, Kasatkina seems to be a confidence player. If things go her way, she's consistent and varies her game for good measure. If that doesn't happen, she starts missing quite a lot and her strengths disappear. It's a curse and hard to leave behind (and I would know, because I'm just the same). That's why her coach was telling over and over to show the true Dasha and to don't quit just because she had just lost the first set.

Poor performance from kasatkina after the 4-3 i think she was gassed out despite that she had a great run beating 4 gs winners i predict she will win rg in the future and some mandatory/P5 clay tournaments

Osaka the Mini serena is bron:eek::cool:

She will win multi slams and mandatory tournaments for sure

Hope both are gonna preforme well in Miami

The stats is quite interesting. Naomi only had one more UE than Daria - it certainly looked like as if Daria's UE should be significantly higher. But Naomi's winner shots were much higher than Daria's.

Daria's really started showing up only at the business end of the first set. She made six forehand UE in the last two games! So she racked them up faster than Naomi starting at the worst possible time.

Hope to see the both of these ladies a lot in the future, two exceptional players! Exciting!

I've seen on TV how their rankings will jump Monday. Will Venus' ranking also go up? I'd like to know, thanks.
