Shappy seemed rattled after that whole incident at 30-30. Started missing a lot of easy shots. This match should have been done by now

Edmund is 4 years older than Denis, so he should have the upper hand in any rivalry for awhile. Hope not, though.

Federer is 4-5 years (Depending on how you look at it) older than Nadal and the younger player had the advantage there for a long time. Age and experience doesn't always mean an advantage.

I did once, Wimbledon 2009.

How could I not root for Roddick? Fed came out the tunnel dressed like he was some messiah, Roddick was the massive underdog, the appeal for Roddick to win was huge for me. I’ve never rooted against Federer since though.

Yeah it was very sad for Roddick.Fed would have won more Wimby titles even if he lost 2009 final. For Roddick as we saw this was his last chance to win GS tournament

if Shaps ever develops a more than decent slice of his BH, he may actually come close to the hype that he enjoys from so many members on this forum...

Good recover from Kyle!
If we want to fault Denis in something are those several balls going long for very little (most of them on BH).
He should change raquet, I think tension went down on the one he is using. Or change for one with a point more in tension. Conditions seem fast in Madrid.

I was WTF? when he came out that day. Totally tacky look and attitude. Still wanted him to win though, but felt so bad for Roddick at the end. He was a broken man and truthfully outplayed Fed for much of the match. Only time I rooted against Fed was olympics. I’m a Scot and couldn’t go against a medal for the home team.

What’s wrong with nationalism? It’s good to get behind your fellow countrymen! Not enough do it.

I root for Americans too since I live here. :p So it’s not all nationalism.
How is different than rooting for someone that white/black etc? Is that acceptable? It's a form of racism that's been accepted in the name of competition. It's disgusting quite honestly.

Oh get a grip! So the World Cup and the Olympics are racist? Absurd.

I would like to ask Federer if he was doing a self-parody in those days. If he was then I can appreciate that. If not then all you can do is laugh.

I can't think of a match that had to just eat at the defeated like Roddick that day. He knew it was his last shot and so did everyone else.

From 04-07 it was 8-6, almost even.

Then Nadal won 15-4 from 08-14

Then Federer won 5-0 in 15/17.

Outside of clay he definitely had.

I take issue with your stamp on "definitely" he had an advantage but it was hardly a huge one-sided thing untill recently. But my point is not about them, it's about the fact a rivalry can happen reguardless of age. Edmund and Shap have quite a good thing going on, pretty close matches in all the times they've played. Both looking like future top 10 players. Could be a fun rivalry!

Just so you know that comment was leftover from a different thread I never posted in. It wasn't meant for you specifically so don't think I was attacking you.

So what is the intention of International competition? Why do countries vest so much time, money, resources and incorporate doping programs from even very long ago?

Wow did the cameraman say “just try and look like an @$$hole Roger, there you go that’s perfect!”

He’s posing like heel Shawn Michaels, “i screwed you Andy.”

Deep down, you know you'd buy that jacket. If you're a real fan you would. I bought the Nadal hot punch track jacket from the US Open and wear it shamelessly in public every now and then.

This will likely be one sided eventually... Shapo young and Edmund probably at his age not likely to get much better. Shapo has huge upside especially mentally/consistency being young but to a good degree physically too.

I doubt it was a self-parody. Federer doesn't strike me as having that type of sense of humour. I don't know which is worse - the thought that it was a Nike thing and he didn't have the guts to say No or that he actually liked it. There's a very good debate about it here - first link is to the article, second the responses to it.
