Last meeting at Laver Cup, H2H 2-0 for Zverev, Shapovalov never took a set off of him

I hope the pizza delivery boy will push this match to 3 sets and maybe even comes out on top in the end

Realistically Zverev in 2

I'd love to see Shapovalov win this match but I don't anticipate it. I think Zverev should probably win.

Zverev seems to be too solid for Shapo at this stage of their careers. I expect that to change over time, but Zverev will be the victor tomorrow.

Zverev, most likely. However, I do feel like Denis has probably been tweaking and being quite analytical with his game, especially since he's been up front about looking at what lefties do on clay. It wouldn't be a stretch to imagine Denis also studying his match-up with Zverev

My guess is maybe Zverev in three; Denis probably comes in with a new game plan but buckles under Zverev's rock solid consistency.

I am so pumped for this match! Sashapo is the Fedal of the future :):) and the future is knocking on the door with 3 out of the 4 semi-finalists under 25!

Shapo is astounding me this week on clay and bringing a game that has never been seen before on the surface. If he can break Raonic he can probably break the mighty Zedbot (unbroken this week on clay.

You nailed it as this is all about rivalry. A week ago most would have said that Zverev would own Shap on clay. For this match I'm not so sure all of a sudden. Shapo is on fire and his serve game is so good its like a 24 year old Fed's. That serve is a pretty big rock to anchor the rest of Shapo's game.

Kevin Nash is happy that his out of date putdowns are finally catching on. No doubt he would say Shapo looks like a short order cook. He might also say that Zverev is the second coming of Kevin Nash because he is that good. Let's see.

Z is still the huge favorite imo but good to see Shapo having another deep run in a master. He needed that badly. In the top 30 now!

I'll go with Shapo's energy. I am expecting an amazing match. Shapo will get the crowd to his favor.
Zvev will get the first set. But Shapo will begin to read Sasha's serve, and as the match goes on he will improove his ROS and will win the next 2 sets.

Last meeting was Montreal last year. Laver Cup was an exhibition.

Shapovalov is only 19 and he already plays big matches with Zverev.

And they said that the tour is too strong for young players :D

Currently we have a 21 year old vs a 19 year old in a masters semifinal.

When was the last time 2 guys this young contested a big match?

For all you Canadians; TSN doesn't have the Madrid Open listed in today's schedule; how are you watching the match?

I would be surprised if TSN didn't at least stream the match. I bet they'll have it available online, if not broadcast TV.
I finally bit the bullet and subscribed to Tennis TV, so I'll get to see it. (It also meant that I got to watch the replay of Denis' last two matches once I got home from work.)

ETA: Just saw someone tweet that the match was going to be on TSN2 at 3pm (EST)

Federer and other participants have clearly stated many times it’s not an exhibition. And if you look at the matches, you would see everyone was taking them seriously.

It’s not officially a part of ATP’s H2H records but I would be very surprised if they didn’t give their 100 % when each guy had a team of older players and even a couple of tennis legends cheering them on and coaching them.

I really like how Shap plays... hes the way younger and better + left handed version of myself. I must root for him. Problem is I hate the hat. Oh that stupid stupid hat... I mean we even looked alike at that age sans the hat. I feel like Im evil "bearded Spock" rooting for the alternate universe bad hatted younger + better tennis player version of myself. Its funny... its like looking in a very warped mirror. Shap is due, not certain it will be here but I am compelled to root for pizza delivery me.

Tennis is full of weird mirroring and polarities.

Yeah. I don't think Zverev would have wanted to lose to Shapovalov there.

What's with this asinine scheduling? Who starts a men's semifinal in a Masters 1000 at 9:30 pm? Whoever wins this match has a disadvantage compared to Thiem. I realize they're all very young players and all should have plenty left in the tank tomorrow, but this is ridiculous. If the Z-Shapo match goes three sets, they'll be finishing up their presser at 3:00 am.
