I'd love to see Shapovalov win this match but I don't anticipate it. I think Zverev should probably win.
Shapo is astounding me this week on clay and bringing a game that has never been seen before on the surface. If he can break Raonic he can probably break the mighty Zedbot (unbroken this week on clay.I am so pumped for this match! Sashapo is the Fedal of the future and the future is knocking on the door with 3 out of the 4 semi-finalists under 25!
Shapo will be no match for the future GOAT.
Sure is. Deal with itZverev the future GOAT?
Z is still the huge favorite imo but good to see Shapo having another deep run in a master. He needed that badly. In the top 30 now!Shapo is astounding me this week on clay and bringing a game that has never been seen before on the surface. If he can break Raonic he can probably break the mighty Zedbot (unbroken this week on clay.)
You nailed it as this is all about rivalry. A week ago most would have said that Zverev would own Shap on clay. For this match I'm not so sure all of a sudden. Shapo is on fire and his serve game is so good its like a 24 year old Fed's. That serve is a pretty big rock to anchor the rest of Shapo's game.

And he'll reach an all-time high ranking of #22Even though a long shot....here's what's at stake for Denis:

If @Denis_Shapo wins #MMOpen SF, he will become
* No. 1 Canadian on Monday.
* Youngest finalist in Madrid history (19).
* Lowest-ranked finalist in Madrid history (No. 43).
* Youngest #ATPMasters1000 finalist since Gasquet at 2005 Hamburg.
Last meeting was Montreal last year. Laver Cup was an exhibition.Last meeting at Laver Cup, H2H 2-0 for Zverev, Shapovalov never took a set off of him
I hope the pizza delivery boy will push this match to 3 sets and maybe even comes out on top in the end
Realistically Zverev in 2
Shapev sounds betterI am so pumped for this match! Sashapo is the Fedal of the future and the future is knocking on the door with 3 out of the 4 semi-finalists under 25!
For all you Canadians; TSN doesn't have the Madrid Open listed in today's schedule; how are you watching the match?
Last meeting was Montreal last year. Laver Cup was an exhibition.
Shapovalov is only 19 and he already plays big matches with Zverev.
I would be surprised if TSN didn't at least stream the match. I bet they'll have it available online, if not broadcast TV.
I finally bit the bullet and subscribed to Tennis TV, so I'll get to see it. (It also meant that I got to watch the replay of Denis' last two matches once I got home from work.)
ETA: Just saw someone tweet that the match was going to be on TSN2 at 3pm (EST)
Let's not be realistic today .Realistically Zverev in 2
And they said that the tour is too strong for young players
Currently we have a 21 year old vs a 19 year old in a masters semifinal.
When was the last time 2 guys this young contested a big match?
And before Montreal last year?Last year SF in Montreal. The same guys but half year younger
Hopefully today the result will be opposite.
Agreed! Z will shut the haters up once again!TTW'S Pariah over TTW'S Golden Child in 2.
Yeah. I don't think Zverev would have wanted to lose to Shapovalov there.Federer and other participants have clearly stated many times it’s not an exhibition. And if you look at the matches, you would see everyone was taking them seriously.
It’s not officially a part of ATP’s H2H records but I would be very surprised if they didn’t give their 100 % when each guy had a team of older players and even a couple of tennis legends cheering them on and coaching them.
Yeah. I don't think Zverev would have wanted to lose to Shapovalov there.

Zverev in 2 absurdly easy sets! Shapo will be no match for the future GOAT.
This is my attempt at a jinx, I don’t think the jinx gods can read words this small so it should work.
Well he does need to consolidate his big wins into trophies... Im all with that.
For all you Canadians; TSN doesn't have the Madrid Open listed in today's schedule; how are you watching the match?
Don’t really follow the WTA but looking at the draw this Kiki girl has had a great run to the final.Of course women will play a three setter to postpone the match people actually want to watch
