People wanted new faces in the tennis field to win major titles. Now they have what they wanted they complain.
Tennis gods must be sadists. Some more fun ones: Dimitrov has won Cincinnati and Djokovic hasn't. Isner has won Miami and Nadal hasn't. Gotta love tennis.
And for once, not featuring 30 something farts.
Well earned for both, Thiem beat Nadal and Zverev is playing much, much better than at MC where he was getting broken left and right.
As a 30 something, I'm greatly offended by this post!
I love it.
They are so good. And so cool. Always love to listen to this one.
Ofc he'll be number one at some point but i'm not expecting him to have a 257 week stint theregoodness knows how TW would cope if he did.
And some scoffed at the Zedbot christening just under a year ago.he's not been broken even once in 4 matches in Madrid. Only 1 BP faced in 4 matches combined (vs Mayer).
In Monte Carlo, he was broken 2,7,7,4 times respectively in his matches. total of 20 times.
Never heard of them, but 111 millions hits for the official video of this. They are so good. And so cool. Always love to listen to this one.

I don't see it as a bad match up right now, more a case of Shapos game being too much of a rough diamond atm. And clay isn't Shapos surface.
2 matches isn't a big enough sample.
Does 2 matches count the Laver Cup as well?
I see aspects that one could consider as a bad match up if Shapo doesn’t improve them. Right now I think he struggles with consistent base liners because he’s too hit or miss. Of course he’s incredibly young still, but it’s not only Zverev. PCB gave him many of the same problems at the USO.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not expecting him to win matches like this yet, and his career is on a great upward trend. I’m just pointing out my keyboard warrior observations.
No. In convo.hahahahah Is this a fresh one?![]()
I totally agree.I’ll give him credit where credit is due, he’s by far the best of the next gen thus far, not really saying much since next gen is hilariously awful but still credit where it’s due.
His tennis is just boring to me, I don’t like his attitude or demeanour, he makes young Djokovic look humble.
Nalby gave young fedr fits too!No Laver Cup doesn't countI don't really consider Davis Cup matches to "count" either in terms of H2H. Team competitions are a different animal.
For sure Shapo currently has problems against those solid baseliners (for a young player with his style that's not a surprise) it's part of his improving process that he has to learn to become solid enough to beat them. Heck Fedr couldn't beat "solid baseliner" Hewitt in his early years.
When Shapo is more refined we'll see if he really does have a match up issue vs Zverev, too early to say ATM.
Everytime I hear some TTW expert in future talk about Zverev as a talentlesa pretender, and Shapo as a true prince of tennis, I'll refer them back to this match..
Only thing that worries me is his height. It's harder for 6'6 guys to stay healthy, season after season. They're not as robust as shorter guys.We all better start liking Zverev soon cause he is here to stay

He seems a little more fluid and flexible for someone over 6'2" than most and still getting physically stronger. I think he will be OK if he manages the small injuries early and doesn't try to bulk up. He only needs a little more leg strength Imo...Only thing that worries me is his height. It's harder for 6'6 guys to stay healthy, season after season. They're not as robust as shorter guys.
First off, hats off to Zverev. He was solid. He's been solid all tournament.
While I don't necessarily love his personality, I've always wondered why people here on TTW give him such a hard time and don't respect his talent.
I can't count how many times I've seen people raise the "he can't win in Slams so he will not amount to anything" argument. Give him time. He's been one of the most consistent players out there. He's only 21.
While I am definitely a Shapo fan, first and foremost, I can still admire the talent and focus of Zed. So what if he's a bit arrogant. Do any of us truly know him?
Congrats to Sascha...it was a well deserved win.
Was right there with you till that last word...so it's all wrong.I think you just hit the nail on the head. For some people in this forum, if not the vast majority, it's impossible to be a fan of someone (insert the name of any young player here) and respect their direct competition (in this case, Zverev). At the moment when the opponent starts to have good results, and their favorite young player isn't doing quite as well yet, hatred begins to appear. They can't realize not everything is black and white. We don't have to label the players as 'heroes' and 'villains', to adore and support one and, by default, bash the opponent. They all bring different things to the sport and it's possible to appreciate them for that, regardless of whether they prefer a type of game such as Shapovalov's or Tiafoe's.

OMG the comments in this thread's.
I can't get over how jealous the guys are of super handsome future #1![]()
Giraffe is amazing. Love him to bits
And another master final to his resume!!! Should be a smashing one against inspired zebra!!
Shap is still a teen. Leave him some time. He'll be awesome too except he'll never have that lethal Z serve of course
@ak24alive Never compare a GOD like Bon Scott to drivel like Z.Is it just me or did anyone of you heard Highway to Hell playing somewhere after Zed won?
Was right there with you till that last word...so it's all wrong.
Thanks. Well said.
One change to your comment that I would make (just my opinion) is to remove the word "young".
Why are you Zedaholics celebrating right now? He hasn't even won the event yet and he won't win it. Dom is bringing down the hammer on Herr Conceited tomorrow. Ya heard it heard second.
Wait till Halle... The GOAT provoked these types of mishaps in the final against the Giraffe Ego:I'd like Zverev a lot more if he didn't have that push forehand. Surprised it doesn't get exposed more often.

What medical evidence do you have to back this up?Only thing that worries me is his height. It's harder for 6'6 guys to stay healthy, season after season. They're not as robust as shorter guys.
Fair enough, good point. But just remember this tomorrow when the Austrian triumphs to save many of us from crushing depression. Remember these immortal words after the final (and looky whose totin' the trophy behind Herr Giraffe...)We're coming from a very long and depressing bad streak since the end of last year, each match won is a sweet victory for us, let us enjoy![]()

This is more some kind of complex jinxing ritual. Why are you Zedaholics celebrating right now? He hasn't even won the event yet and he won't win it. Dom is bringing down the hammer on Herr Conceited tomorrow. Ya heard it heard second.
It's not that Shapo has a bad serve but I don't think it will ever be as big as Z's. Z's serve is a formidable weapon imo (when it clicks). Shapo does have phenomenal power for his age in general.I'm happy for your guy. I think he's talented.
But then you said that Shapo will never have a lethal serve like Z. You lost me there.
There's no guarantee that Shapo will be right at the top, but he absolutely has an amazing serve for a 19 year old. Every bit as good as Zverev's, I believe. Zverev definitely has more consistency all-round though. Shapo needs to learn how to return serves generally!
Z and Thiem seem to be good friends. I doubt there will be much bad blood between them.Fair enough, good point. Why are you Zedaholics celebrating right now?
Because it's his 4th Masters final/4th tournament--Rome, Canada, Miami, and now Madrid. That alone is cause for celebration.
Zverev seems to have so many fans in instagram, where are all his fans in ttw
