Sloane into her first final since the US Open.
Sloane has a perfect record in finals. Has won all 5 of her titles (3 internationals, a premier and a slam).
It's quite funny because for years she was known as being a bit of a choker in SF's as she had made several (including the Australian Open) but had never made a final. She'd made the top 15 without a title. Since 2015 though, very good.
Ostapenko into her first final since Seoul in September.
Ostapenko lost her first 3 finals (International, Premier 5 and Premier) but has since won her last 2 (French Open and the Korean Open).

I think Stephens has to play out of her skin because once Ostapenko gets on a roll, she is unstoppable as we saw at RG. Stephens did a great job of moving around Keys in the USO and inducing errors. That's kind of what she has to do against Ostapenko too.

I'm not sure about that given her results for such a long period after the US win.
However, if she can sustain her recent level more consistently then yes, I would agree she absolutely has a shot at another major.
She seems very likeable, and very attractive, so that would be good news for the WTA in terms of media coverage, sponsors and tournament directors.

Lol surprise Jelena has not lost a set yet
Seeing Jelena’s ground strokes live was out of this world. In the second set I could only laugh when she was just ripping winners. It reminded me of Rafa playing Rosol at Wimbledon. All you can do is watch the ball go by you. Only Madison Keys compares to Ostapenko in the amount of pace she can get. But Ostapenko can generate the pace off both wings. Pliskova and Muguruza have nothing on her. This is going to be a fun final. At least I hope so.

The 2018 Miami tournament has one American each in the final of ATP (John Isner) and WTA (Sloane Stephens).
The last time this happened was back in 2010 with Andy Roddick and Venus Williams. Andy won against Berdych, but Venus lost to Kim Clijsters.
