Ostapenko fell apart in the second set. Sloane was too much, well done

Just like the US open final... Wash, rinse, repeat. Ball basher has no plan B when the shots aren't going in.

Well, this was quite predictable.
I hope the constant underrating of Stephens is dialled down a notch in the future, she can't remain the underdog forever.
Especially when it's so clear that when she's in form, she always seems to win the tournament she's playing.
She said that she was on an enjoying the good life walkabout after the USO but now she's back to her day job. So hopefully she'll stay focused.

Well, to be fair to the naysayers, both players had losing records for 2018 coming into the tournament. I would never have imagined this final match-up. Before Miami, SS 3 - 4, JO 4 - 7. I hope both players have turned a corner.

You should be fine as long as you don't place a bet on that happening.:)

I must confess I feel a little vindicated for having given Sloane some leeway right after her USO win. I understand people frustration at WTA's inconsistency and the arguments used by them over here at the time, but my point of view was not so outlandish after all.

Regarding Ostapenko, I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it a thousand more: she has to improve that serve. She can improve some aspects about her groundstrokes too (she can add some variety, use the net even more, be more patient...), but the serve is the big issue here.
