Kyrgios, Berdych and Donskoy are lurking in Fed's half.
How long will Kyrgios stay in the draw? Will he even start? I don't think Donskoy will make it as far as Fed as for Berdych, he's come very close to beating Fed a few times but has never done it so I'm not holding my breath. Berdych did beat Fed in Dubai in 2013 so maybe there is a chance.

Is there a way to see who would be playing Thurs/Fri this week? Understanding match outcomes, I would still like to see some dates of potential matches.

On paper Del Potro's draw has some names but I can't imagine him losing to Nishikori. Djokovic might not be there and even if he is, I don't see him beating Del Potro right now. The first dangerous matchup is Dimitrov. Del Potro owns Cilic.
Del Possum might be a bit gassy after winning straight events, but the leisurely pace at IW and Miami might allow him to go deep again....:
R2 - 6-0 vs Sugita/Haase
R3 - Ninja in with a real shot against the gas giant as he's one their last two hard court encounters:confused:
R16 - Never played Krajinovic and Djoko no threat.
QF - Might be Raonic despite his poor record against Dimitrov and God Potro just beat Milos
SF - Goffin might be fun or Chung

Very watchable matches especially if Dimitrov comes through for the QF. Somehow not so sure Delpo will come through all this.

I hope Djokovic can get a few match wins here, but honestly, if he plays Del Potro here, it's probably lights out. He needs match wins before heading to the clay, he has hardly played.

He'll handle Paire/Mischa IMO on this court. Third round is Krajinovic or a qualifier, also doable though Filip has been in pretty good form lately.

Delpo would be too big of a hurdle right now, I agree. That said, Delpo might be running out of gas a bit and I do believe of all the big 4 Novak is by far the toughest match-up for him (Cilic and Berdych as well for that matter, somewhat similar players) so you never know.

Fed's gonna win Miami and Wimbledon this year, many VB tears will be shed.

Just kidding, wouldn't want to jinx Fedr.

If Federer wins Miami, it will be business as usual.

However, I think his main goal is reaching the quarters here. Kind of similar to his approach in Rotterdam. Secure the number one ranking. I think after that, he will start thinking about the title. Even if Federer doesn't win Miami, walking out as world number one is objective number one complete.

Delpo and Novak to meet early in the tournament! Who saw this coming.

Eh, not so sure. Spaniards usually love playing in Miami, probably their best HC event. Could be tougher test for Fed than they are on paper. Would love to see Nick get motivated to defend his SF (he played some amazing last year) but I don't really expect it to happen, he just seems to be in too big of a funk right now. Coric is in Fed's half as well, right? Hope he builds upon his IW showing, he seemed ready to take it to the next level potentially.

I wouldn't be that surprised to see a Fed-Delpo final repeat actually, would be quite something.
Fiasco going for his 2nd career set against Fed.

Yes, but it depends on Djokovic's form. At the moment, he is losing to just about anybody. He needs a couple of convincing wins under his belt. I think Del Po will have too much fire power for him, and that match is still relatively early in the tournament, so Del Po will be a bit more fresher. We shall see, I think Federer got lucky with the draw here though.

18/2010 QF Belgrade Clay Filip Krajinovic Novak Djokovic 6-4 0-0 Retired 12.00 - 1.03:D

Kraji playing well so could easily be end of the line.

Fraud once again manipulatingerering the drawerer with various pigeons in his wake. Puts Delpo on the other side to get poached by someone looking to expose a false dawn.

Even without the Haas favoritism chances of a title here to put IW in the rearview are about as high as can be attained through just a draw.

Fraud was also seen sending a Lindt Truffle truck to Bendych's house - thanking him retroactively for defeating Del Potro at Auz and saving him the headache.

I don't ask much. Just switch Fed with Cilic this time and lets have some first time matches with Fritz and Rublev rather than some geriatric reruns.

Speaking of Bendych..it's hard to believe Delpo went from getting 3 3 2'd to him a few mere months ago to winning Acapulco and IW back to back (Against quite good competition in both events).

Melbourne really does seem to be the big guys absolute kryptonite

I know the conditions are a good deal different but Delpo got absolutely obliterated in Auz

Just an exception that proves the rule, though quite a painful one. Of course, he also got him in the London Olympics match for the bronze IIRC.

Novak has just always been a headcase when it comes to Olympics, cares and gets emotional way too much. I'll never forget that botched overhead against Nadal in 2008.

Verdasco will probably be tough on this surface and with Fed a bit fatigued.

The sauce will be tough, but he will need to put one of his best performances, to beat even this fatigued Federer.

What is the H2H between them?

Goffin with a really great chance for SF, F, or Win here if he finds some form. Maybe Rublev winning through to the QF might challenge him. Think he handles Chung R16. Goffin vs Fed final would be fine and dandy.:D

Novak is a choker when it comes to patriotism.

If he said his last match felt like his first one on tour, I don’t think Mischa’s game would be easy to deal with — regardless of his recent form. Paire, too.

Rublev is better on slower surfaces, right?
He has not 2nd serve and 1st is meh, so really needs clay in my mind. Ivo of course can ruin anyone's tournament.

Don't like Cilic's form or draw at this event. Isner could be real tough for Rublev and just won doubles with Sock at IW.

Something like 7-0 Federer.

But I am not underestimating anybody anymore after the Coric debacle. The only times I underestimated Fed's opponent, it came back to bite me in the ***: Goffin WTF 2018 and Coric IW 2018. :D

The early start did effect Federer's preparation for the Coric match, he looked off. I think Federer Verdasco will more than likely start after 1pm... :)

If he stays in form and gets past first match really like Coric's chances to go deep with this draw in Miami including Federer.

Handwringerer's delight. The only silver lining to this cloud of geriatrics plus Zedrot is that perhaps Kokkinakis or Demon might qualify and be the first match. Verdasco and Garcia Lopez vying for R32 honors with Sandgren the young threat. Maybe Manny for PCB R16, but really would rather see Busta in great form as a bit of an unknown with some ground game. Suppose Anderson and his delusions good enough QF, but he's got plenty of youngsters nipping and Tiafoe would be a pleasant surprise (Bendy in there with a rough draw). Kyrgios SF and Delpo final would be just deserts.:D
With a slow court, slower than IW. There is hope. Handwringerers hero cannot hit through that.

On a slow court like Miami (if its slow) Id like Novaks chances.
And when it comes to injury and coming back to play, its good to come back on a slower surface before entering faster in the autumn, get in the rhythm.

The draw to the fourth round is reasonably OK, one of Paire or the older Zverev brother. Third round could be a qualifier. But then it is Del Potro, or even Nishikori, with Dimitrov possibly waiting after that, Cilic in the semis...

Yeah, but playing Del Potro so early is not exactly what the doctor ordered.

Thanks. Interesting. Hope Novak can clear some mental obstacles and get some wins and be competitive - to start something new.

The real test will be Del Potro, I am taking it one match at time with him, especially after what happened in IW. If the big man falls early due to fatigue, since he has played three events in a row, then Djokovic might get going. But, need to take it one match at a time with him for now.
