Surprisingly a very good match between them. With plenty of drama.

Luckily Anderson is not reliable to win points off short balls.

Both guys were so nervous at the end. I am ecstatic for Carreno-Busta. A lot of people don't like his game, but I think the guy is just so exciting to watch. Puts 100% into every single shot. Hustle hustle hustle. Nadal and Ferrer must be so proud of this kid.

I think Carreno-Busta can certainly take out both Coric and Zverev.

10 Masters qf's, no semis... I guess that TB showed us why.
Congrats to Busta, blnt to mr. Anderson

1 hour and 15 minutes after his first match point, Carreno Busta wins! That could have been a massive choke from Pablo.

Well said.

His attitude is really good. Zverev is like a child in comparison.

I like some of the "boring", solid players. They provide a great contrast to the more aggressive players, often resulting in some interesting matches. I liked the Coric/Shapo match the other day, for instance.

Variety is the spice of life.

Congrats to Busta!!

If Del Potro wins the Miami title he'll reach a new career high of #3 in the world.

No real points to defend til the Rome Masters.

With Nadal defending pretty much everything on clay and Fed skipping clay, perhaps DelPo could be a threat to the top ranking...

Delpo looks good for Sunshine Double. He will be the favorite to win USO if he does that. YE#1 also seems within reach. FO and Wimbledon also should be interesting with Delpo in contention.

Would indeed be a real turn-up for the books if all that were to transpire considering it's not so long ago we were all pretty much writing him off due to his constant injuries!

The same way people are writing Murray off right now? ;)

Here's hoping they will be just as surprised!
If he gets fit I don’t see why he couldn’t win a slam again, especially on grass.

Fedr is the only one I can really see stopping a fit Murray on grass.

I think Murray might have a decent window to add to his achievements if he comes back physically. Lots of tall, big serving/hitting types going deep in tourneys these days, Murray matches up well against those players.

Murray can only add to his accomplishment is if he’s fully healthy. His game is centered around his fitness/speed. If his hip is still holding him back, there’s no way he’s going to win anything. With that said, hoping he comes back strong.

I think there's very rarely such a thing for pros as being fully healthy, especially for 30 something veterans, most of them play all the time through some physical niggles and perhaps a minor injury or two.

It's all about getting it to manageable levels, enough to compete. Will definitely be hard if his hip isn't fixed though, I agree. Modifying his playing style a bit wouldn't hurt either, he has the tools do so IMO.

As one of my favorite weightlifting commentators once quipped: "Sport happens between injury."

Indeed. However, Isner reminded us that the tour is not just about a few guys. Will big John finally win something big? Or, will Zverev continue with his collection of M1000 trophies? Interesting final it will be!

Delposum woke up too late today. He looked tired/spent/unmotivated. I think it's true that nothing gets him pumped up / riled more than when he's playing against Federer - and vice versa.

Coming into Miami, John Isner had won just one match this year and lost six matches. He was #294 in the race rankings.

Now he's back into the top 10 despite having not gone past the 3R of a slam in the last 12 months and has only once made a slam QF back in 2011. ATP really struggling.

It's because of his consistency in the Masters events in the last 12 months, plus a few smaller titles to his name. This is always been typical of Big John.

Only player to have made 4 SF's at Masters tournaments in the last 12 months... Good for him for getting back to the top 10, just think it's not a great look considering his form.

I can't help but compare it to Sloane Stephens. Going into Miami (like Isner) she had won barely any matches, just 3 this year and lost a whole bunch more, out of nowhere she's into the Miami final which has meant she too will break into the top 10. However, she at least has a slam to her name in the last 12 months. Isner has two ATP250's and early losses at slams. It's embarrassing. There is just this immense gap on the men's tour and it's staggering. No idea what's going to happen in the future but Isner being a Masters winner? What next.

Isner being a Masters winner seems fine to me. The guys is deadly when he catches form and is on song. The guy has already made three finals at this level before, losing all to either Fed, Murray or Nadal. Put up a fine fight in all three of them. As long as it's quality tennis or somebody new, I'm fine with anybody winning really.

I can't compare it to WTA as I don't watch it.
