World no. 5 Alexander Zverev takes on Borna Coric in the Miami Open quartefinals. Coric has won both their meetings. Both were played on hard court, including one last year at the US Open. Coric has only played three set matches so far, while Zverev's only straight set match was against the flamboyant Nick Kyrgios.

This looks like a 3 setter with Zverev making a comeback and Coric having a good run. I'd pick Sacha in 3.
Hopefully whoever prevails he better makes it to the final.
Miami has been a fun tournament so far, let's keep it that way till the end. ;)

Borna: savior of tennis and hero to all who love this sport, will vanquish the evil Zed lord from this world and make tennis great again.

Coric is good, but he chokes a lot.

Let's begin his match against Federer.

Wins first set, no problem.

Second set leads 2-0, later 4-2, looses the set 4-6.

Third set, begins with breaking Federer, then losing his serve, finally again breaking him to take a 4-3 lead, looses his serve and the set 4-6.

One match ok, Federer fought well too.

But there is more.

Jack Sock vs Coric
Coric leads 5-2, and serves for the set, he looses the set 5-7.
Next set he leads 5-2, and the set goes to a tiebreak.

So I don't think he will manage to win, although I hope so.

I like both players, so will enjoy the match regardless, but I think Zverev in 3.

However wins this takes the title IMO.

Yea I am going with Coric here. Has looked strong here in America and only loss came against Federer wich came barely. He is getting better and better and is strong from the baseline. He is made some nice progress. Zverev will have it tough here but we are gonna see a good match nevertheless.

I agree, Coric is improving and maturing by the day. He has greatness in him. I just think in this encounter he will be less fresh, and Zverev has more experience pulling through in a big tournament like this. It will probably be a close one. :)

I hope the winner is the only current active player other than Nadal and Djokovic to have won multiple Masters at age 20.
Masters? Slams are where the results really count.

Nadal won his first slam at 19.
Djokovic won his first slam at 20.

Zverev is nearly 21 and still hasn’t even made a slam QF.

I'm looking forward to this match.
Both of these guys take grief from the posters here on TTW, but I think they are not given enough credit.

While I am a Shapo fan, I like the contrast in style that both of these guys bring to the table.

The statistic is a fact. Other than Nadal and Djokovic, Zverev is the only active player to win multiple Masters before the age of 21. Clearly rare to do, and deserves praise.
Fair enough, just don’t go overboard with this statistic.

Zed needs to start performing at slams before we can even think about comparing him to Roddick or Safin, let alone the big 4.

I just checked the weather since I was wondering why it wasn't starting... lol.

Looks pretty nice although windy. Not sure who it will affect more.
