My theory is linking patriotism with sports fan-hood very frivolous.
I think Americans are tought to love their country, not their fellow Americans.

And I think the fact that their biggest sports are mostly national competitions also plays a role. They all support their own club, be it the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL or whatever.

The people cheering for Delpo today are not the ones who are patriotic and standing for the anthem. Not all Americans are the same. These people are American in name only.

It is quite heartless not cheering for Isner, seeing him play home courts and being met w that. Frustrating. USO too.

I really do appreciate Annabel Croft's self-control. Talking to Greg '' I will contradict'' you Rusedski always seems to be a challenge. Fair play to her.

Heavy Latin atmosphere in Miami. Proximity wise, this is like Melbourne is for Asian tennis fans times 10. Always has been.

Big John even complimented the Argentine fans after the match. Didn't bother him at all.

He was certainly impressive against Cilic and Chung, but today, he took out racket out of the hands of the hottest player on tour, extra special.
Del Po was the hottest player as of the start of the match, but he did not come to play today. He had nothing left in the tank. Same story as in Paris Bercy.
This shows why Del Potro will never reach #1. His body won’t allow it.
Anyway, Isner playing like he is now, would have won.

Yeah, Miami might as well be South America. I speak Spanish when I am there and hardly any English.

Isner would have been the favorite, to anyone who knows and watches tennis, this was not an upset.

I just checked the odds, Del Po was the heavy favourite according to the betting companies. 1,50 for del Po to win the match and 2.60 on isner

For anyone needing the updated rankings I've done the math and crunched the numbers tirelessly:

Peak Del Potro defeated Peak Federer at IW
Peak Del Potro had 15 match win streak
Peak Isner defeated Peak Del Potro

Therefore we can rank the players like so:

2. Isner
3. Del Potro
4. Kokkinakis
5. Federer

You're probably wondering why there is no #1. That is because Peak Carreno Busta will expose Isner's false dawn.

1. PCB / Hypothetical Injury Free Nadal
2. Isner
3. Del Potro
4. Kokkinakis
5. Federer

4th Masters final for Big John, at 4 different events. Say what you want about him but those are excellent results. Maybe he gets the title finally, won't be facing a Big 4 player this time.
