Anderson d Kei 6-1,3-6,7-6(4). I think I see continuous improvement in Kei compared to the previous tournament. Not quite back to his previous form. Serving seems to be harder RPM-wise than before. A few timing issues (framer shots, and UE). Credit to Anderson - he played well. Will be #9 (career high) after this win.

Brooklyn Water Bagel Company had the same idea. Multiple locations in FL and CA. Maybe we can get @dgold44 out of cardboard boxes and into a real mensch pursuit, no???

Clearly don't have the athletic ability to even beat me brother in tennis .
Don't have the brains to be a doctor .. I probably would be selling bagels on the lower east side back in the 1920's !!! Right now I am working so long at my store that I don't have time for anything. I played tennis for the first time in 2 months and I hit my groundies pretty solid 4.0 level but my serve is so pathetic and weak that I will never play competitive tennis again. I used to like reading books but it seems to irritate my eyes. I feel like I am totally deteriorating before my eyes. I worked out in the gym today and I only weight 157 pounds at 6-1. Totally weak.

hey.. check out Meru on Netflix... WOW !!!!!

Cheapest tickets for today are $30, but ridiculous Ticketmaster fees are another $14! Not to mention another $15 to park. With all the empty seats this week, they should be letting people in for free. Oh wait, forgot to mention $14.50 for a cup of beer!

Greedy pricing is the reason I stopped going to other sporting events, greed has ruined sports in America. The leagues are taking advantage of people who are addicted and just can't let go.

I am with you. I try to go to the quals where you get some quality tennis at affordable ticket prices. Usually concessions are through the roof at quals too though.

why does Querry choke on big time close tiebreakers ?? you would think with that big serve, he has the advantage in such situations.

Unfortunately for him he was facing another big server but he certainly let it run away from him all too quickly. Never mind, onwards and upwards to defend his sombrero in Acapulco!

Querry would be a top 5.0 on LI, would have to worry about getting bumped and losing the chance to play 9.0 mixed.

Wow, Anderson was clutch in that final set tie-break! No doubt the New York crowd were disappointed for Sam but congrats to Kevin on winning the inaugural edition of the New York Open and his 4th ATP title!
Yup, Ando just won every match in this tournament, 7-6 in the third! Well, except for the match with Frances, and that was 6-4 in the third.
Fighter!

I am not in love with his game, or even his serving style.... but what a fighter!

Yep, Querrey let the tie break get away, but man, this match was one of the best ones I’ve seen in awhile!

Anderson seem to be on top his game the entire NYO matches! He need the win since his ranking has drop a lot in 2017!

Very happy for Anderson, his record in finals is relatively poor (4 victories in 15 tries) for a player of his caliber, so any new trophy is more than welcomed. This final reminds of the old indoor matches on carpets during 90s, where the big servers and offensive players (S&V) were reaching the final stages of the tournaments regularly. Short points, big hitting, big serving, more net approaches...it's a nice refreshment compared to the usual Tour grinding.

Yes. Rough start to this tournament, but a good finish.
The LawnGuyland crowd finally showed up Saturday and Sunday, correct?
Four beloved figures among NYers:
Two recent US Open finalists,
one American hopeful,
and a guy whose name reminds us of a very Rad duo, Albot&Costello.

I was not there. Who was the crowd behind most?
Nishi then Sam?
Ando all the way?
Heyyyy Albotttt!
Or sam all the way?

A fluke final is just that, a 250 can be a fluke too. But put together a final, a 250, runner up in a 500 and another 250, and that's top 10 worthy. Is Zverev better, with his 2 masters but can't get to the 2nd week of a slam? Is Thiem, chasing after 250s and racking up points on clay that much better?

^Yeah, like inter-era comparisons, it is totally fun assigning more weight to points from different kinds of events. But, at these levels, points are points, and the boys sweat to earn them, as they're not available at the supermarket.

Onto Delray, Provence, Brasil, etc.
