Great tournament from Kvitova too. Draw was packed and she fought her way through some really tough matches with Wozniacki and Muguruza both in form.

This is now Kvitova's 2nd longest winning streak in her career (13 in a row).

Her previous best was 14 consecutive wins in 2011/12 where she won Linz, the WTA finals and 2 Fed Cup matches in 2011 as well as 2 matches in Sydney in 2012.

Ostapenko, meanwhile, maintained an unbeaten record in doubles finals to claim her third title with as many partners, following St. Petersburg and Stüttgart last year with Alicja Rosolska and Raquel Atawo respectively.

Didn't expect it but Kerber dropped 3 positions in the WTA rankings. This puts Kvitova at #9 (Kudos!) and Görges gets to stay in the top 10! Did not realize it but Halep and Woz have swapped positions again. Simona will be #1 for a while since neither she nor Caro are playing Dubai. Woz has a lot of points to defend while Halep, not very many.

Halep pretty safe until clay. Unless Woz win IW/Miami.

Another effect of this is that Görges has replaced Kerber as the #1 German WTA player. Not bad for someone who had to retire in her QF match against Kvitova because of a hip injury at Doha last week.

Very curious? Live rankings changed since Mon. Now showing Kerber #9, Kvitova #10, Görges #11. Official ranking shows the same. Unsure what the Mon blip meant.

Spoke too soon on the top 2 spots. Apparently, Simona Halep does not officially assume the #1 spot until next Monday.
