We didn’t just make **** up. Our streams cut and FlashScore had the match as finished. Honestly, so quick to jump down my throat. Pathetic

I see Lob and Spystud are continuing their sucking up of each other. Gee, sorry I posted a result when my stream cut out and FlashScore had the match finished. Heaven forbid a mistake was made. Won’t forget that one.

You apparently can't read. Flashscore had the score correctly.

Please, please post another example of Lob & I sucking up of each other. It is absolutely ridiculous that you feel the need to post the final score of a match you’re not even watching. Go hide your hurt feelings somewhere else.

Oh by the way, the match is actually over now.

I didn't even look at the flash score, just checked this thread after my stream went to ****, saw your post and figured it was over.

I totally forgot you're unable to watch because you're in the States atm and are having to rely on live score.

I actually found a stream but it cut out on match point which happens a lot and almost always means that the player won, I checked FlashScore to be sure as I usually do and went and posted. I admit it was a silly mistake but didn’t expect petty comments. Oh well. Good win for Halep.

I don't think it would be premature to say that Nadal wins.

Nah, it's perfectly understandable. I'd usually check live score myself after losing stream, just happened to peek here instead.

I'm predicting the Toronto ATP final will be nowhere as exciting to watch as Halep/Sloane.

Sloane gave a very good fight for this match. Simona slowly building even better confidence after a very, very tough week with 2 matches in a day and many hours on the court. Those feet looked like it took quite a beating during the MTO.

Almost 2000 points Halep has now of difference between her and Wozniacki, the N°2. @Aussie Darcy

Yup. Has finalist points to defend at Cincy next week but nothing at the USO. Caroline only has QF points to defend at Cincy and R2 points at the USO. The two of them can get a nice buffer ahead of the rest. #3 is Sloane who’s got SF points in Cincy and of course the defending champ points in NY. Kerber at #4 also has a huge shot as she has so few points to defend. #5 will be Garcia(!) who also doesn’t have a lot of points to defend until the Asian swing.

The battle for the YE#1 in the WTA will be amazing. Halep will finish as the YE#1 IMO.

Halep has more grit than the rest of the WTA tour. I don't think she's going to win USO frankly, but I do think she's going to stay no. 1 for the rest of the year.
Gotta watch out for Kerber. If Halep and Sloane do withdraw from Cincy (I think it’s unlikely) then she could do well there and close that gap. Former USO champ so we know she can play well there. Will be fun to watch.

Halep is now 1400 points ahead of Kerber. From there there’s another 900 points to Wozniacki.

Stephens doesn't exactly have a great draw at Cincy. Qualifier in the second but then either Mertens or Rybarikova in the third. I'm not sure she's going to have the energy to get through that.

In saying that, Caroline is a 2x finalist at the US Open and with Serena in questionable form, perhaps Caro could land the slam we all thought she would get. Most, if not all thought that if Caroline would win a slam, it’d be in NY and not Melbourne. It’ll be a really exciting few weeks between those three and then we’ve always got Pliskova, Svitolina and Serena. No idea where Muguruza is at health wise but would love for her to win.

I actually expected Kerber to be a real contender here and was surprised to see her fly out early. Still, I expect better at Cincy and certainly at USO.

I had Kerber as the favorite going into W (should've put money on it, regret it now as she wasn't rated that highly by the bookies - I just don't have the guts for betting generally) but basically have no favorite for USO.....it's anyone's tourney.

What a match! Congrats Simona. Kudos to Sloane for a good match too.

I hope she makes a good effort to Cincy and maybe win it in the 3rd attempt. She can rest after before USO.

Imagine it being a first time slam champ with Pliskova or Svitolina!
I do think the winner will be from the pool of former slam champs though but you never know for sure.

Yes, I too would bet on the pool of former slam champs. Kerber, Muguruza, Wozniacki, something like that.

I don't see Sloane defending the title, though who knows. She tends to become unmanageable if she doesn't bomb out early

Exactly. When Sloane wins a match, it looks more like her opponent lost, than because Sloane "won." I don't know if she lacks confidence, or what, but she doesn't seem to have that go-for-the-jugular "killer instinct." When she misses a shot or two, she's all boo-hoo. Like after today's match with Halep. Good grief, you'd think her dog had died or something. Grow up, kid.

She's always like that. Even when she win against Ostapenko.

The only real pump up Sloane I see is when she beat Cibulkova in Acapulco and vs Venus at USO SF.
Even when she beat Giorgi at FO.

Maybe it’s the tennis she plays, which is essentially waiting out opponent’s errors much of the time.

I think she’s confident in her tennis generally though. Demeanor doesn’t necessarily tell the story.
