A pretty commanding 4-1 lead for TW fan fav, Marin winning the first match back in 2015, all Zverev since. Not all too straight forward though, fairly competitive matches.

If Zverev wins he becomes the #1 in the race to London? Looking for his 5th Masters final overall and 3rd this year. Cilic aiming for his 2nd overall.

They get the night slot, scheduled not before 8:00 pm, local time.

No way Zverev wins this one. Maybe he'll take a set, but no more than that.
So you think fatigue is the major issue here? I was a tad surprised when you said that you expected Goffin to take the 3rd set, citing stamina problems. Not sure I saw much of that tbh, though you do watch Alex far more frequently....

I don't think he's having a problem with stamina and that's exactly what I'm worried about. He has played a lot of tennis in a very short time and with very little rest, so I'm just waiting for a fresher opponent to step up and defeat him. I don't get how he keeps winning if it's pretty obvious he's been running out of gas since he arrived in Rome, in his match against Berrettini he complained to his father about his legs, and against Edmund he looked in battery saving mode o_O

Ah OK, I haven't seen any of Alex other than today. Looked alright, though you are making me second guess now.

I just can't picture Marin in a clay Masters final. I have no idea how well he has played this week either tbh...

It has to be said that regardless of his opponents Zverevs winning streak is impressive.
By far the most impressive youngster, maybe the real Next Gen should start with him,

Guys like Kygrios are never going to be a main factor.
Zverev might not play particularly exciting tennis, but it sure is efficient.

Back to back titles including a Masters and already onto his next Masters SF plus
still having enough gas in the tank to beat a solid high Tier 3 player in David Goffin.

At this point Grand Slam success is entirely mental.
Easier said than done to be overcome however, another Round 1 loss will be hard to recover from.

Who has a better chance at making the final slightly interesting ?

If Zverev manages to get to the final is going to be barely, the boy will be exhausted and Rafa is going to eat him alive. I haven't seen enough of Cilic this week, but if he reaches the final at least he'll have enough energy to try to put on a fight and maybe (just maybe) avoid the bakery product.

Just reading that makes me excited! Go on Z I’ll be rooting for you to make the final. ;):D

I haven't seen one match of Marin in this tournament:oops:.
If he got to the SF he should be playing well. Pretty straght forward result vs a PCB, which is kind of surprising on clay.
Will he be able to stop the fire of the young German?

I want Rafa vs zverev match atleast once in best of 3 this year, I know he will lose easily to Rafa but it's far better losing to Rafa than other players on clay.

Why the match is scheduled for so late? It should be earlier.Anyway I am not sure who will win this match.Hope the winner here makes competitive match with Nadal

It would be brutal for sure, but I much rather watch Zverev losing against the best of all time on clay in a final than against Cilic in a semifinal ;) it would be a win-win situation for both Zverev fans and Zverev haters.
We all know about Zverev haters, but where are Zverev lovers? Are they so shy to come out?

Why is Zverev face so strange?

Zverev, yet he sailed through anyway, such is the form he is in right now. Unbelievable.
You think so? I didn't watch too much tennis this week, watched only my second match just now.

If you are willing, could you give me a breakdown of Zverev's draw / performance so far this tourney?

I went with Cilic in the poll, as I think Zverev has to be running out of gas.

But I'd prefer to see Sascha win. I would think it's been a long time since anyone other than the Big 4 have led the race by this stage of the year. And Nadal-Zverev will give us interesting information (even if it's a 6-1 6-1 beatdown as in 2017 MC, it's still interesting information), as opposed to Nadal-Cilic.
