Fed just played his highest quality match since last years Shanghai final. If he manages to retain the form he displayed against Kei, he will destroy Coric. But as we all know, old Fed’s form can vanish in a heartbeat.Coric in 2
Fed is obviously tired as hell
Fed gets his revenge.
Then gets rolfstomped by Ultron in the final.

So true. And since he's become ancient, his form can suddenly change from brilliant to total crap in the blink of an eye. The Goffin match last year is a case in point. The Anderson match at Wimbledon was another less overt example. I think he'll beat Coric but fall easily to Djokovic in the final. Just making a final at 37 is mind blowing, but that's scant solace for Fed fans.Fed must show first and foremost that his current form is not a flash in the pan.
Honestly if I thought Roger would keep playing as long as he makes it to semi-finals and finals but doesn't win, I really wouldn't mind. I've enjoyed the heck out of his matches so far this tournament. I just want to see him play, even at 172, he still makes shots that no one else can (he just no longer makes them as often). So true. At the ATP Finals last year, he was tired. But the most worrying for us Fed fans is that he lost his motivation a bit after he achieved all of his big goals within a couple of weeks ( major no.20 and no.1 spot back). It happened before when he won the AO 2010, but now he's 37 and he absolutely needs a new source of motivation. Going for Connors' record would be perfect for him to get some mojo back.So true. Your pathetic for interpreting it that way and for obviously not having watched how well he's been playing, yet feeling you had to make an ignorant comment anyway. Eat more fiber, your outlook will improve. You are content for him to keep getting beaten in semis & finals, converting 2/17 break points, 10 shanks and 5 double faults every single time JUST because he makes 2-3 highlight shots? Pathetic.
Bad movie, worse than their relationship. What a surprise!Zverev beats Djokovic. Coric beats Federer.
Shanghai, full of surprises

Coric is like a new Djokovic. He has the physical build, a great athlete. He has a great serve, great shots from both wings, touch shots, good at net, great mover. The only thing that has held him back so far is the ultimate belief that he belongs at the top. Only he knows if he has that burning desire to be the best, because he certainly has all the weapons.
He's already stated several times he isn't motivated by Connors record at all. He specifically addressed this in Rotterdam and said he would never play 250's just to catch Jimbo's tally. He has admitted he wants to get to 100 tournament wins, however. His only reason for playing for the past several years is to try and win more majors. Nothing else is important to him at this point.Going for Connors' record would be perfect for him to get some mojo back.

Some days like joe kovic, some days like mury...straight from the horse's mouth.Coric is like a new Djokovic. He has the physical build, a great athlete. Are you joking? Every fan should just love watching him play. The results are icing on the cake. I mean, I can honestly admit that I’m way more happy seeing him winning the title, and that I was upset by something like the Millman loss. But that’s sport, and never would I regret having watched him on the way to a loss. All that is way better than him not participating (like on clay) or retiring for good. You are content for him to keep getting beaten in semis & finals, converting 2/17 break points, 10 shanks and 5 double faults every single time JUST because he makes 2-3 highlight shots? Also you are talking about SF or final losses, which makes it even worse. If he loses let’s say in the 1st or 2nd round of every big tournament for a year or so, THEN maybe we could talk. But even then, nobody can take any title from his prime years away from him, and every sane person will understand what happens with age (or at least SHOULD do so). So his legacy isn’t in danger in any way, no matter what nonsense some people may tell us about it.
Roger Federer plays on because he loves playing tennis, as it always was. So the only question is: Where should he play? On the senior’s tour? With his children in the backyard? Just come on, Roger belongs on the regular tour, on the same court as the best players in the world, as long as his body allows it!
And by the way, as we are talking let me remind you that he still is #2 in the world, with chances to get back to #1.
