Great win by Rafa, of course the only time he comes within 10 feet of the net is on the last point. Can't believe this is grass court tennis. Love Delpo man, but this routine just has to stop. Can't show your opponents weakness like this, guy would have been eaten alive by Pete.

What's his record against the top guys in big matches? Like 3-5005?

I never said he’s unbeatable unless he’s injured. I’m not a Nadal fan lol.

But I saw it with my own eyes. He went from moving fine and returning great to barely moving and shanking everything, all after that slip.

He still could have found a way to win that match but he didn’t. Just very dissapointing. His worse nightmare would be nadal winning Wimbledon. Gotta hope Novak does the dirty work.

Delpo loses another hard fought classic 5 setter against another big 3.
I really feel for the guy..
That being said Kudos for Rafa, for proving what a champ he is.

Rafa makes ya make ONE more shot time after time and eventually it breaks you (no pun intended)

I know that. I've witnessed it many times, not least of which today, and it's mind boggling or whatever other superlative you want to use. Nadal's absolutely amazing.

BUT, I want to give credit to Delpo because I know what the narrative around this match will consist of now that Nadal has won it. Again, he's amazing, but don't say he "outfought" Del Potro because he's a "warrior." It's the worst thing you can say in disrespect of Del Potro.

As an analogy, I don't think Federer outfought Nadal at AO 2017, but that he got slightly outplayed at crucial junctures.

BTW, congrats to Nadal for winning this. He must be happy after all his recent struggles at Wimbledon.

@TheGhostOfAgassi I apologize for getting a bit heated with you earlier. I admit people saying things about Delpo is a good way to get on my bad side, and I’m sensitive on that. And even though I’d rather light myself on fire than say it, congrats to you.

TG Fed lost otherwise this might be too bitter a pill to swallow. This hurts almost as much as 2013. The difference is there’s still one guy left I’d like to see win whereas I didn’t give a damn after Delpo lost in 2013, Murray-Djokovic could have kissed for all I cared then.

Unfortunately I think Delpo is destined to forever be the moral victory guy.

It's very difficult to put Nadal away once he gets deep in Slam no matter of surface. Had he won matches against Kyrgios and Mueller, I am pretty sure he would have made semis or more then. His grass game never disappeared. He just needed to avoid a big hitter in first week. This time he was fortunate enough and suddenly from losing to 100+ ranked players he went to semis here in Wimbledon.

Sounded like a great match, shame I could only watch the 2nd and 3rd sets. I was rooting for del Potro but I’m not unhappy (Nadal winning helps by draw prediction a lot as well!).

Can’t wait to watch the real final on Friday against Djokovic.
