What a wild, wild doubles point. Duke absolutely needed that. I think now they have a fighting chance, whereas Stanford would have eaten them alive if all they needed was three points from singles.

Duke was up 5-1 on court 3 in dubs, have now blown FIVE match points. Never been so sure of anything as that if they manage to lose this match and the doubles point, Duke is done.
fortunately they salvaged that court 7-5 to take the dubs point, because yes that was critical

going to take some courageous singles performances, but they're looking good so far

Yup. Based on the UNC match, I still give Stanford the edge, but now this at least puts Duke in upset potential territory.

Duke leading on 3 singles courts
It's all about getting those three first sets. Harris won hers, now praying McCarthy and Chen can close it out. Once you have those, then you can root for one of the other three to turn it around, and know you have at least a decent shot of getting those three points.

And there it is for Chen. This is real now. Duke has done everything right, and they have at least a 50% shot to take the match now. Still guessing Stanford is going to make this extremely difficult, though.

yikes, 5 and 6 got away from duke quickly

duke could really use a big ending to this second set from chi, because asking all three other duke girls to hang on to their one set leads with no breathing room is a little much

SouthernCourts

Yup. Need a little something from Chi. Would also be great for McCarthy and Harris to win in straight so we don't literally need to go 3/3 in third sets.

This is a little heartbreaking for Duke, even though it's not over. Sam Harris just had a chance to serve out the match, but I swear she cannot win a big point. Now trying to stay in it, and other two matches are in third sets. I give Duke a maybe 20 percent chance of winning still.

Sam's huge win on court one makes it 3-2. Now Duke just has to win two third sets. The problem is we're already down a break on court three.

Stage was way too big for McCarthy in the third set. Too bad, they gave themselves a chance against a really good team. Not that it matters at this point, but can someone explain how Stanford was the 15-seed?

Lord was injured a majority of the season and the team lost some matches they probably would have won if the team were at full strength. Lord only participated in the last 2 or 3 regular season matches (I'm estimating...) so spots 3-6 had to play up. Probably helped in the long run to make them tougher.

Yeah oh well, Stanford the deeper team, and when you get rocked at 5 and 6 you don’t have much margin for error elsewhere

By not playing in the indoors their RPI took a hit also.

Couple of other thoughts on today's match (Stanford vs Duke):
- This was a very early start time for the Card. 7am PST - so in a way, I guess I'm not surprised they lost the dubs.
- Was surprised at the calmness after Lampl won to clinch the match. Thought there would be more emotion. Guess they know their work is not done and face a tough opponent in Vandy.
- I don't know much about other teams other than Stanford, but I was familiar with Kelly Chen on Duke. Good player - I saw her in a Challenger a couple of years ago in Northern CA.

Go Card!

Only Vande stands in the way of the Championship. Play your best and let's see what happens. Go CARD. Crush it tomorrow.

So are we stuck with whatever match they choose to have on? No separate court streams or am I missing something?

awful that you can't watch any match that you want to when it hasn't been a problem the entire tournament. Boooo!

My prediction: Card win singles 2, 4, 5, 6 for a 4-2 victory! Go Card!

so once the ESPN/NCAA gets involved fan experience gets the big middle finger. Sorry but prefer having the choice to watch other courts. 1 step forward and then 2 steps back.

Lord was just up 40-15 and dumps two backhands into the net to arrive at 40-all/game point...and barely escapes.
