Zvonareva played a decent match (or so it seems), but one still get the impression Pliskova just wasn't there. 31 UE vs 9 winners (against Qiang Wang it was 33 UE and 28 winners) is bad.

Fissette led Kerber to her incredible 2016 season which saw her win 2 slams, Olympic silver and become number 1. They split, she had an AWFUL 2017. She hired him again and she had an epic 2018 with a Sydney title, Aus Open SF, French QF. Wimbledon title, return to the top 3 etc. Now they split again.

Bizarre.

Wim Fissette didn’t work with Kerber before 2018. Torben Beltz was the guy who coached her in 2016, she split with him after her bad 2017 season. But she had worked with Beltz twice before reuniting with him in 2014 I think. Overall Beltz had three coaching stints with Kerber.

Fissette was working with Azarenka in 2016, then he had trials with Kvitova and Ostapenko, before a successful trial with Konta and coached her until November 2017, before linking up with Kerber.

Jabeur just defeated Halep (Retired), Stephens, Makarova (2 & 1), and Kontaveit recently. Not a bad feat.

Jabeur is junior FO champ so the talent was there.

Luxembourg got a really nice attendance which proves they can selling ticket even it's not a joint event with ATP.

And yesterday there is barely people watching Shapovalova vs Polansky. Compare to Bouchard vs Navarro or Gorges vs Blinkova.
So does Verdasco vs Kohly rn.

Is it good? I'm still emotionally exhausted from *finally* finishing The Killing.

Well, it is entertaining, at the very least. There are some serious plot holes or situations that are just too farfetched to believe (I mean, police just can't be that incompetent and gullible, can it?), but the story is engaging, the characters have some depth and, at the end of the day, it just is bloody fun to see all those twists and turns. There is also some mildly interesting symbolism regarding the old socialism/capitalism dilemma.

Moscow's drama ended up not being so dramatic after all. But I'm glad Bertens is in, after her breakthrough season in a less clay skewed way. I want to see how will she fare against this stiff competition. Ditto for Osaka and Stephens.

Glad for seeing Bencic reaching her first semi this season. Hard match against Yastremska, who has already defeated her this summer and is currently on a roll. A title at the end of this tough season could launch her into some good things next year.
(When I see Yastremska's name on a draw, I immediately start singing some Thom Yorke song. That's what happens when you combine having the same first name as Yorke's girlfriend with an undying love for Radiohead :p)

The WTA is the exact opposite of the ATP right now.
Every time you see someone gaining momentum and winning a lot of matches, there's always another young player around the corner who will end up beating this player.
And then she'll have a brilliant couple of months only to be defeated by another one who's rising, and so on and so forth.

Pretty amazing week here.
After winning 3(!) qualifying matches, she beats

Makarova #61 but obviously a better player than that
Stephens #8
Kontaveit #21
Sevastova #11

Impressive.

That might be one of his best solo songs, actually. That part where he sings "All is well, as long as we keep spinning" hit me like a ton of bricks when I first heard it. That soundtrack is shaping up nicely. Who knows if Thom Yorke can surpass Jonny Greenwood in the soundtrack making mastery...

Damn, since I started watching, Goerges decided to up her game. Already a break down in the 3rd. And I was so ready to say Bouchard, winner of the 2019 AO...

Yastremska being clearly the aggressor and Bencic trying to frustrate her with her defence. However, Bencic's serve isn't doing her any favours.

Gotta admire Dayana's angles though.

YEEES! Bencic is in the final! What a dogfight that was! Some stunning points and much grit in display. Belinda was completely overwhelmed at the end, crying and sobbing.

That phrase is also struck me and I'm considering to get a tattoo of that.
