The rush to Singapore is also definitely on.

#1 Halep has qualified and is at 6910 points
Kerber has also qualified in 2nd with 5152 points
Petra occupies #3 with 4250 points
Osaka sits at #4 with 4146 points
Woz is 5th with 3983 points.
Svitolina #6 with 3840 points
Sloane currently at #7 with 3824 points
Bertens has the last spot at #8 with 3312 points

#9 Pliskova At 3231 points
#10 Mertens at 3080 points
#11 Serena with whatever points, not like she’ll play anymore this year anyway
#12 Kasatkina with 2816 points.
#13 Keys at 2692 points
#14 Goerges with 2656 points
#15 Muguruza at 2502 points
#16 Sevastova on 2465 points
#17 García with 2360 points
#18 Ostapenko at 2299 points

Some other notable players:
Venus at #35
Azarenka at #40
Radwanska at #69

Currently a battle between Pliskova and Bertens for the final spot. Ostapenko, Muguruza and García who all qualified last year all look like they’ll miss out unless one of them does the Asian double out of nowhere like García did last year. And last years finalist Venus Williams looks like she definitely won’t qualify as she’s down at #35!!

Hasn't withdraw from Beijing yet. That's a solid 1000 points on sale there.

Gap is just increasing for Halep with her hold on the #1 spot.

Over 2400 points ahead of Caroline in the live rankings and 1800 points ahead of Angie in the race rankings.

#2 Caro is defending the YEC title while #4 García is defending Wuhan and Beijing. Osaka and Kvitová have basically no points to defend til year end and look a lock to qualify for Singapore but can’t see them scooping enough to catch Halep. Only other threat is Kerber but she hasn’t looked that good since she won Wimbledon so she’d need to up a gear or two.
Yeah I figured Halep had a lock on YEC1 as soon as Cincy was over.

She’ll definitely enter top 10 of all time with no. of weeks at no. 1 imo.

Hope she wins at least one more slam before she retires.

I think Serena is done for the year, just like in years past. I doubt she plays any more tournaments before 2019.

Anyway, I think Naomi will take this. She's in the groove. :)

Disappointed by Sloane. Didn't expect Vekic to beat her outside grass.
Sometimes I think Sloane is most vulnerable early in the tournament. Maybe the stats don't support that, but it seems that way.

I hope Serena plays again this year. Despite which way this forum might lead, I think she has a lot of support in the tennis community, time to get back on the horse!

Nobody does this like her.
Can you give me an example?
I mean, there's a reason I only notice it when she does it.

No its unique to her but no way is it an annoyance, you may be looking too hard. Other players have bounces in their step and they do it too but not the same, if you can see that in her step you will have no problem seeing it in others.

Konta has happy feet, she probably doesn’t even realize she’s doing it. It’s wasted energy though, but probably an impossible habit to break for her.

That small thing she does is insignificant, its like Rafa's bottle adjustment. Sharapova and Muguruza screaming are much more energy wasteful.

Wozniacki streaking in the wrong direction, she has 1 hard court win this summer!

3983 points in the race rankings. Pretty crazy when you think that 2000 of those points are from the Aus Open and 470 from winning Eastbourne. Just 1500 points elsewhere for the rest of the year.

She’s won just 2 matches since winning the Eastbourne title.

She's in love. Busy planning wedding stuff.

I see Ostapenko lost in straights against Alexandrova. And going by the WTA's site report, it was another serve masterclass by Penko, having won only 53% of her first serve points and seeing her second serve being ripped apart by Alexandrova. I'm starting to suspect even Sampras couldn't correct that monstrosity.

And btw, I hate when the WTA videos start all by themselves, with that annoying music. It scared the hell out of my convalescing dog.

I disabled my sound to the site.

I kinda dig it only because it’s different. If it was every tourney, I’d probably get real tired real fast.

I mean its cool but from viewer perspective its kinda bright. They could tone it down a few shades darker and would still look feminine and cool.

Osaka with her media hyped and U.S Open title earned confidence can do no wrong! 6–2, 6-3. She will meet Pliskova in the finals.
