Looks like she is going the other direction.

This is verging on Trump levels of delusion.
I guess Evert, Fernandez, Blake, Azarenka, BJK, McEnroe, Wertheim, Annacone, and Roddick, etc...must also share in that Trump level delusion.

As for the article, she states she didn't cheat. Which she didnt.

If she had signals worked out with her coach we would have seen them many times before and she would probably use on court coaching when it's available.

Her 2nd point - She states that she thinks male players have historically gotten away with speaking to umpire much worse. See list above who support that notion.

Both statements are true.

No acknowledgement of any wrongdoing.

In that case, Serena has put herself against history.

It will become clear to her in time.

If I were an umpire, I would individually decline to officiate her match. It is not personal. There is a principle at stake.

Seems like I remember seeing somewhere the other day that players really do have the right to request that certain umpires not be allowed to officiate their matches. Makes sense if they have had a serious row before with that official. No problem there. Just trying to avoid future trouble. Should be plenty of other umpires available.
Seems now that if umpires don't have that same right - to request that they not do certain players matches - it might be a good time to institute that rule.

But to follow up when I'm not on a mobile device......

Most on that list have at least acknowledged that Serena didn't handle the situation well. Unless you can point me in the direction of a quote, she has not said anything even implying, as it relates to the drama, she is anything other than a victim and/or champion for women's rights.

Looking for some support on the fact that men have gotten away with much worse.

My question is.....if some 50th ranked player in the world, male or female, pulled the crap that Serena has over the years at the US Open, how would BJK react? Would a large chunk of the media be bending over backwards to defend his or her terrible sportsmanship?

If anything the real bias in tennis might be that the elite players are the ones with the privilege.

The silver lining in all of this is that, as far as I can tell, there is no real victim in this. Naomi idolizes Serena and, I assume, doesn't hold anything against her for the spectacle she created.

Could you imagine if Serena were playing someone who wasn't so warm towards her. I mean, Sharapova would be the extreme example. But let's say Serena was playing Sloane and all of this went down......
